WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY

Featured Replies

Is May actually any good?

The trade all all depends on how keen Hogan is to go back to the $hithole Fremantle club.

If he wants to be a life long loser then well and good. Go there.

If he wants a chance at the big time and is prepared to leave Mummy in Perth then he stays in the world’s most liveable city.

He might regret being a mummy’s boy (and for money).

Ask retired AFL players: was the money that good or would you rather a premiership to your name?

I’m sure I know the answer.

In every case.

If you put Oscar Mcdonald in the gold coast team you can double those numbers mate

I'd be happy if TMac kicked 10 goals on his younger brother..

Wanna bet? $20 says May is a Demon this time tomorrow.

With May now being touted as happy to go anywhere in Victoria, it is time for our team to lay down the final ultimatum to Freo - right now, give us two first rounder, and Brayshaw of Cerra, or GOGF right now.

Deal or no deal.

Maybe we should get President Trump to do our negotiating ??

I’ll do it!

PS - this is an observation from a third party (fyi - i'm tipping Hogan to be in purple tomorrow night)

It's very sad watching you flap around like a dying fish.

You've entirely missed the point, and art, of trolling if you're the one that ends up making all of the effort. You're just trying pathetically hard.

This is just painful to watch. Please stop, it's making me sad.

It’s a contrarian, minority opinion.

What’s the problem? Does difference and non-conformity frighten you? That to me actually is sad.

I'd like to play poker with you.

Can anyone misread a situation so badly ?

There's no skill, art or guile in this sentence.

It's like a tail ender facing 1000 throw downs a day in the nets before closing his eyes and slogging as soon as he gets to the middle.

200 posts a day isn't trolling. It's a cry for help.

Look, anyone that has a clue about footy knows May is quality and should be back to his best in a good side like ours.

It's really simple.

Those that don't rate him clearly don't watch enough of him or are just clueless.

One can only laugh when posters start talking about which opposition player kicked what amount of goals on him. It's just massive lols.

If one's understanding of football only goes that far, there's no point in engaging further with them.

May is quality and is a clear upgrade on our current defenders. I'm not sure I've seen many posts suggesting otherwise.

My main concern is that I don't think the value of pick 5 is the same as the value May adds to the team vs OMac over the course of his career. That is based on:

- we rarely had kpf's kick multiple goals against us this year (and when they did it was often lack of midfield pressure);

- we have Lever coming back into the defense; and

- OMac performed well this year, is underrated on this site, and will only get better next year and the year after.

But I understand that others (list management included) perhaps see the value of May in the short term as much higher than pick 5.

It’s been about 20 a day, most of which are spent answering questions and replying to prods, pokes and insults from aggrieved fanboys like you.

There was no intention to be guileful or artful in my last reply to you. Was just pointing out your fear and prejudice towards non-conformism.

If that hit a nerve so be it.

Ignore response, my brain definitely fried.

Steven May will be in the red & blue by the end of the day :)

Via trade radio:

Eade on May: He's a really good player. He can play tall but where he can be best used is on the medium types like Robbie Gray that can be hard to match up on

It's this attribute that has gotten me around to bringing May on board.

OMac isn't fast/agile enough, Frost isn't smart enough, Nev isn't tall enough, and as well as acombination of physical attributes that make them unsuitable,  we don't want Lever/Hibb/Salem/Lewis tied down from their usual role as interceptors/distributors.

You're underrating Nevs ability to play tall..

Do we have to use pick 6 for May?

Is it possible we could trade our next year first round and 23 for May?

KK will be steak knives

If we can go to the draft with 6 that's a big win

I like it, but we have a lot to do to get this thread to 400 pages in the next few minutes.

Or negotiate 8 and 13 with Adelaide and try and keep 13?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
