Next week is a bye round for the interstate game. Congratulations to youngster Bayley Fritsch who has been selected in the final squad of 27.

I see they've brought in former Essendon listed ruckman Gach Nyuon to give King and Keilty a hand in the ruck. Casey has struggled so far in the ruck department. Does anyone know how tall Nyuon is?

Good thinking. It must have been tough on Mitch King coming straight into the team after more than 12 months out of the game recovering from an ACL and having to lead the rucks against some experienced opposition big men. Nyuon is 198cm but light at 83kg according to the VFL Record. He has an image problem after getting into some hot water in the past and this is his big opportunity to atone and revive his career.

Interesting that the selectors went with Nyuon ahead of rookie Lachie Filipovic who remains in the Development League as a project player.

As for Declan Keilty, I think it's for the better that the club concentrates on working on him as a KPP with an occasional run on the ball rather than mainly in the ruck where at 194cm, he is always at a height disadvantage as a ruckman.

Talking to an opposition ruckman some weeks ago he was quite disparaging of Keilty as a ruckman. You might be on to something Mr. Jack.

Looking forward to a big response to last week. Hope Milkshake plays, and ANB is carry over emergency for Sunday.

Another difficult game as Port have again recruited with a wave of cash to topline VFL players and ex AFL players.

Not sure who kicks enough goals for Casey.

Hope ANB, Harmes, BK, Trenners, Stretch can control the midfield

Didn't they almost fold because they had no funds?  Did they overspend on players?

I might make it down for this one. Keen to see how Johnstone is progressing.

Good luck at the borough.

Never easy but always do-able.

Melbourne fans will be able to buy cheap tvs and socks for cash.

No receipts though.

Port style.

great club-hope Casey turns up .

That was my impression too. I thought they were in desperate need of cash to remain financial.

Interesting to see a 'Cook' lining up in a key position for Port. Been a long time since the old VFA days when Fred Cook kicked a bag every week for the Boroughs. This weekend's Cook is at the other end of the ground, hopefully letting a Casey bag through.

We at Demonland know all about this particular Cook. Once was an All Australian KPF and a first round draft pick for the club.

I'd rather we had taken Fred with pick 12

Conditions are perfect for football at Casey Fields.

The Development League is under way and the Casey boys have struck early 1.3.9 to 0.0.0.

Expect a few changes to the senior team judging from the team out there. Gach Nyuon and Todd Vander Haar who were both expected to play tonight are on the field in this game.

How are Filipovic and Hulett playing?

Any reason why Hulett is playing in the development side?

Is he? He was named in both the seniors and development squad.

I fear that the coaches have put a line through him as soon as they switched him to defense.

I know many are trying to forget, but how is Lucas playing nowadays? Has he matured into a decent KPD?

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?
