Just turned on the TV and saw the Hawks immediately kick a goal. Unbidden, a discernable rush of anger pulsated through my brain.

My god I hate that footy club.

just remember the role of the MFC for years has been to play bad teams into form.

Hawthorn will take a while to die.... a bit like North

Surely, the only game that should be billed as country vs city is Melbourne v Geelong... [censored] off Essendon.

If Sheedy loves the need to label matches that ultimately mean [censored] all to hype them up (City v Country.. incredible, can't wait for this one), then I'm looking forward to him drumming up next weeks game against West Coast! Wonder what he could call it..?

Mate hes a star. To say that hes not a great player is simply laughable and silly.

His workrate is up there with one of the best in the competition and one on one hes elite.

Since 2013 hes kicked over 60 goals every season since. Not a great player.. Sorry Adam but not one of your finest here.

Haha, fair enough, mate. Might be struggling this weekend it seems. ;)

Wasn't sure where to put this, but if we're not in Weitering's ear, I'd be annoyed. Have no idea what he'd cost, but imagine Weitering at CHB? Love it.

The Carlton game plan is very, very obvious and clever in a way. They're a short chipping team. They don't need to move it particularly quickly. They don't have great kickers either, so the short chipping game suits them. Bring manic pressure, break even or win the midfield battle and they have some tall marking options. If you make Carlton kick long though, they'll be in trouble and if you move it quickly and efficiently you account for them easily. This game is being played on Carlton's terms though. They're pretty good at getting the game played on their terms at the moment.

I'm currently loving it, because my St Kilda mate was very smug during the week. I said we'd finish above them still and he said they'd beat Carlton easily. That may still happen, but Murphy is playing a blinder. They have to stop him.

I've only seen this (2nd) quarter today, but their foot skills are more reliable than ours.

Not sure which team I want to lose more in this one.

Their foot skills appear more reliable because most of their kicks are 25-30 metres. Whenever they go longer than this distance they turn it over. You watch.

Weitering is their new marquee player. Can play back and forward. He isn't going anywhere unless you want to make an offer around 1.5M per year if not more

And St Kilda are being shown up today too. If I was a St Kilda supporter I'd be livid. Carlton have controlled large portions of the game and if Cripps doesn't have a brainfade there, they take the lead at half time. Gee, Cripps is slow, a gun, but as slow as a wet week.

Those are the kicks we constantly [censored] up under not much pressure. Drives me crazy.

Hence why I'm not so worried about our current situation.

apart from the fact that we're not getting the wins, playing inconsistent football, and generally go to 'sleep' for one quarter a game, me either.

huge test tonight.

Hawthorn currently cleaning Brisbane up, so the wrist slitters don’t need to worry about a Lions win sending a message about how crap we are or something.

St Kilda blew a match winning lead - surely you now hope they lose as they'll clearly be the more miserable team of the two.

At least in this game there's no way for sooky Melbourne supporters to manage to interpret the result as an insult against us since we've beaten both of them.

A Carlton win today would be a massive help in our efforts to surpass the Saints and snag a Final 8 spot at the end of the year. While I fear that boat may have sailed for us with our past few losses, the Blues winning could lessen the Saints’ lead over us.

They've completely binned the deliberate out of bounds so far this round, let's see how many we cop tonight. I'll go with 4.

The AFL is run by peanuts, it was never a good rule and the fact that someone even suggested it is a disgrace.

If St Kilda get some injuries, they'll be in big trouble. They still rely on too few IMO.

What an incredible goal by Sidebottom. Too bad it was at that soulless hell hole. Hardly any reaction at all.

Maybe Sidebottom is someone we should be trying to lure to the Dees.

Would complement our midfield.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
