From John Ralph.

“Zak Jones is the interesting one. He always says ‘I want to stay at the club,’ but he’s continually linked to clubs like St Kilda and Melbourne,” Ralph said.

Swans were keen on Vandenberg last year. They can have him and his busted foot for Jones. Vandenberg might be the better player, but he is not doing us much good sitting in the stands each week.

Hnmm YES!

Hearing its down to Saints and Dees now on his potential clubs for next year.

Langdon and Z.Jones on opposing wings next year helps our outside run in a big way. Both have speed to burn

Is Nathan’s little brother on the move? Possibly. Do the Dee’s and Saints lead the race for his autograph? Maybe. You heard it here first. #ETthetradebreaker.

Saints apparently into him in a big way. Probably likely to move.

They like the Hawks are into everyone.

I suspect a big part of it is keeping fan interest high by fueling speculation, i'm sure the Dees talk to just as many players but make more of an effort to keep it quiet than other sides who are happy enough for it to get out.

John Ralph just commented on Fox Footy that we aren't in the race for Zak.

Just nominated the Aints

Having Langdon and Jones on both wings wouldn't have exactly improved our DE inside forward 50. Both butchers. Targeting Tomlinson, who is more versatile, to bring in alongside Langdon is a smarter strategy.

Saints don’t have enough picks to land all these players that have nominated them!

Not a big fan for that reason either AF.  Often hangs on too long as well and gets caught a bit.

Having said that, i agree in terms of versatility but wasn't overly impressed with Tomlin's ball use in any of his finals appearances either.

His height & marking ability might prove handy when going up the line from HB and defending to a bail out in the same area but a tad concerned when the ball hits the ground if he's matched against a genuine speedster out wide.  He's by no means quick in the true sense of the word and imv you need a bit of burst speed in this area of the park.

Jack Newnes might get picked up via free agency and Jack Steven might end up at Geelong so there’s a couple of extra picks.

Langdon is a better kick than Jones.  Still not super, but I'd rather Langdon.  Plus he is fitter and finds more of the pill.

They'll get a few for Bruce and Jack Steven.  Pick 6 will probably go for Brad Hill, maybe one of the picks they get goes for Jones and so forth.

Might need a bigger belt Andy, lots of notches being added lately. #ETthetradebreaker. How does he do it? #Hejustdoes.

I'll reserve judgement on both Langdon and Tomlinson and I'll call it 'the Melksham rule'. It has a two year age limit. Let's see how they both go.

Agreed.

Give me Langdon over Jones every day of the week. Way more versatile, gets more of it, and is a better disposer of the ball.

I agree Langdon over Jones.  But I’d rather Jones than Tomlinson.  If we have to push out Frost, then perhaps to punt on getting Zak Jones might have been understood.

Obviously Zak Jones does not want to play alongside his brother in a final season for our Jonesy.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
