Nat Fyfe

Featured Replies

Almost begs a new thread of sorts:

Not sure Nat worth the farm etc , nor possibly the best 'fit' despite his ability.

Though we're barely into this season there is the curiousity of who/what we need and who's looking shakey come end of year.

Carlton .... in Judd.... Out Kennedy

Who won

To me Fyfe is similar

The only way it works for me is if by some co-incidence we have some short term salary cap room that allows us to massively front load his contract. Let's face it he would not come to MFC because he likes the coffee so it would be big dollars in a bidding war.

Hogan and a few others are likely to be asking for real money in a few years. It would be short sighted to say the least to spend it on Fyfe.

Chris Scott is like Ross Lyon. Has no idea how to rebuild a list and instead tries to quick fix the issue through recruiting plodders.

I read somewhere that its potentially going to cost North two 1st rounders for Josh Kelly. In their position i see that as a HUGE risk.

You mean Brad Scott.

As a restricted free agent we wouldn't need to trade anything for him, Freo would get top compo for him in draft.

And if he chose Melbourne it's because he's decided he can help us win a flag. He'd get better coin at Suns but no possibility of the big one...

Lewis choosing us last year plus a finals finish this year will play a big role in helping to convince Fyfe to chose us. We'd have to be on his short list.

Freo won't let him go for just one compo pick (albeit it one in the top 5 the way Freo's season is shaping up).

Because Fyfe is 'Restricted' Freo can match any offer as Adelaide planned for Danger.  In the end Danger went to Geelong for a 1st round, a 2nd round and a player (and Danger hadn't yet won his Brownlow).  Fyfe would command much more especially if he has a good year.

So any club wanting Fyfe needs to be prepared to pay in draft picks/players.  But I don't think Fyfe is going anywhere.

Hawthorn are very keen on Steven May. Would be a great get if he's not already committed there.

Good luck with that, they'd have to trade for him and their 1st pick is GWS 2nd rounder - likely to be 36+

Yep. There was a fair bit of moaning about Hawthorn managing to snare both O'Meara and Mitchell, but overlook the massive mortgage they put on their future to get it all done.  This is the price of those sort of deals.

We are very unlikely to get Fyfe and I'm not sure we have the cash to reel him in. It would be great to have him, obviously every club would want him but we sure need another key back. Jake Lever or Sam Mays on the cards.

If Smith fires up in the next four weeks, anything can happen.....

At 187cm, Sam Mayes is hardly a key back.

A Perth radio station has claimed that they have the scoop on Nathan Fyfe's plans for 2018 with a high ranking Saints executive letting the cat out of the bag in a private conversation.

He allegedly has verbally accepted a deal from St Kilda in the vicinity of 1.5 million per season.

He ain't that good in fact no one is and he is getting close to the end.

Not quite close to the end, but a contract of many years at $1.5m a year is an acl away from being a disaster.

If the saints make the 8 this year then I wouldn't mind them having a crack at Fyfe for one last crack at a flag with Joey and Roo. Those two I imagine would take a pay cut if the team was going to roll the dice.

Give him a big front ended contract for one year and a 4 year deal. Him there will help recruiting more players once Joey & Roo call it a day.

Gotta spend the money on someone. May as well be arguably the best player in the comp. Look at the cats with there one superstar recruit in Danger. They could sneak a flag having only a coupla decent players

I'll make it easy for you!

All gun players recruited at great cost to be the star flag winning figurehead.

None of those clubs have jagged a flag (yet)

Those players have or are about to cause salary cap and list issues. (Suns not so much as they have a leg up from the AFL.)

It looks like a giant Easter Egg at first. Very tempting. But it could turn out to be a giant hand grenade.

We done that too. Tillbrook, Templeton and Moore. The list is also long for other clubs throughout history. Messiah's aren't cheap and only deliver when the end of the world arrives so I have read.

Thank god we don't even know what a destination club looks like...

Hypothetical if Fyge choose the Dees - what eould be Freos asking price?

If the Judd deal is any indication

1st rd pick and Salem?

Kent and 2 first rounders?

Dare i say straight swap for Hogan?

It does eound great having Fyfe in the red and blue but the devil is in the detail.... no puns intended

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
