The boys had to do a early session at the beach today as Jayden Hunt turned up late to recovery on sunday morning so the whole team got punished.

I'm assuming he'll have to do extra training and will not play for the next few matches now like Watts?

Indeed it was. Absolutely sickening. Still haven't forgiven Bomber Thompson for making a joke of out of it too in his press conference after the match. Smarmy pr*ck!

The punishment has been served.

So unless Hunt hasn't trained with "intensity" you can assume he'll be selected.

So Hunt is not up to par and the team is punished, but Watts is not up to par and he gets punished individually and cops it in the media from club reps and players? Good to know the coaching staff treat players equally.

No. I'm being over the top to illustrate a point. I just don't like the way the club has treated Watts. Unless he has done something far worse than expected and this is their way of covering up.

On a positive note I can't wait to see Oliver unleashed. He's been really good in the 2 JLT matches and if he has improved his tank he could be set to explode quicker than expected! Love Clarry!

as for watts, i think there must be more to this than we are being told, so there is a lot of subjective speculation

i'm looking forward to watching both oliver and cp5 this year

It's been suggested he turned up to preseason "underdone" and according to Goodwin his training had been less than satisfactory for a "few months".

I find your incredulity over this matter nothing short of extraordinary and lacking intellectual rigour in the extreme.

Jimmy Stynes was a woeful trainer.

If JW gives us on field brilliance every week I will be happy.

Some guys just look more nonchalant than others on the track.

I think in the era of GPS, heart rate monitors and so forth I hope there is more to the claim of lacking intensity than "looking nonchalant".

What I dont understand is, after say 2 or 3 weeks of inadequate training intensity they didn't pull Watts aside, tell him to lift his training standards or he'd face the consequences,

rather than let him plod along for a few months and then inform him he's in the dog house. It's a long lurid way to prove a point to someone.

Your and my take are polar opposites, Dave.

My take is that they haven't kept it a secret from him.  Do you think Goody and other coaches just speak in meetings behind his back and then suddenly let him know on the eve of the JLT that his intensity is below what's required ?  Or more likely he's received regular communication for months, but disappointingly hasn't elevated his performances ?

I know what I find (far) more likely.  I find the alternative absurd.

Hunt will definitely be picked. Now to go off topic a little, but ProDee, I'm just wondering where you got that shot of Jabba the Hut from, that you're using for your profile pic ;)

This is from yesterday's address to the joint sitting of Congress. I think it's a slightly different angle, but clearly the same facial expression.

Glad to be of assistance.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

Once again inaccuracy and inefficiency going inside 50 rears it's ugly head as the Demons suffered their second loss on the trot and their fourth loss in five games as they go down to the Pies by 38 points on Kings Birthday at the MCG.

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag
