So first weekend of AFLW has been a success (obviously aside from us losing) I have to say though I'm not a fan of Casey being our home ground. I get that our ties are strengthening there and I'm not saying we shouldn't play some games there, but given the obvious proximity to the MCG and the ease of getting to the games I think we should lobby to play future home games at Punt Rd Oval. 

I know it's a tiger heartland, but the pies are being moved to Carltons heartland for some of their games so I think the bigger picture has to be how do we make the games most accessible to fans wanting to support it.

If the game against Brisbane was at punt rd I would've gone. Impossible for me to get to Casey. Reckon more would go to punt rd than Casey. That said, there are broader issues around the alignment that are obviously at play.

I would imagine it's a similar capacity as Casey. Maybe less space but better equiped with stands. I have a feeling a Tigers intraclub attracted almost 12,000 a couple of years ago.

Last time I went to punt road oval was to see Melbourne seconds play. Nathan Bassett and (I think) Cam Bruce both played.

They'd probably fit about 12,000 into the place. But who would be assigned that task of running onto punt road to collect the mis-kicked footy?

I am really sorry to all those Casey lovers and those you call it home, but I would never go there to watch a footy game whoever is playing. It lacks soul, has comparatively poor facilities compared to the top clubs and is just so damn inconvenient from a travel perspective (for most). Feel sorry for the players and coaching staff having to make the journey there and back so often. Players, stiff and sore after training and playing and then getting in a car to travel home. Just a big disadvantage.

Bit of a shame we couldn't jump on the MCC bandwagon and get in on this redevelopment in Beaumaris:  http://mccnews.mcc.org.au/whats-on/latest-news/2016/august/beaumaris  "In a Victorian-first, the MCC will fund two competition grade ovals, a pavilion and a multipurpose pitch as part of the redevelopment of the school".

I assume it is more likely to be used for cricket than football, but it might have been worth a shot for MFC to get in on the act, given our MCC alignment.  Probably too late now.  Wouldn't mind our training sessions to be held there - just down the road!

Gee some of you lot a precious, to far to travel from your East Melbourne address. How do you know where the players live and if its a longer drive to Casey or AMMI. You do know people do live out in the outer suburbs as well.

This is definitely a cricket-first development. The cricket club isn't allowed on their home ground during preseason until September due to Lacrosse. this will alleviate that plus give their 3rds and 4's a proper home ground. Currently they play out near the zoo in Parkville.

I don't mind our womens team playing a couple of games there, maybe even 50/50, but I think we also need to make sure we maintain the image of the team of Melbourne. It's kinda hard to justify that when the team plays so far from the city. It also makes sense to be able to provide a location that is more accessible to fans.

At least one of our womens players comes from well past Geelong, Colac I believe, that is a long drive to the city let alone adding on Casey to that.

Should avoid Casey if possible. Chanel 7 will rarely cover a match out there LIVE due to the terrible facilities. If the women can keep winning I reckon we'll have a bigger say in where they play more often and chanel 7 will also be pushing for them to play at ikon etc.
