They're not trying to "fix" the system that made them billionaires. Capitalism works just fine. They're draining the swamp of anti-capitalists that are desperate to break the system.

Trump's trying to repeal Dodd-Frank.

If there was every any evidence that he's in it for himself and his billionaire friends, not the little guy, this is it.

But his supporters don't care about evidence. They don't seem to care about Gary Cohn as someone mentioned earlier.

Don't get me started on Betsy DeVos.

That country, in a word, is [censored].

Trump’s Truth Bomb: “You Think We’re So Innocent?”

by JOHN WIGHT

  • print-sp.png

1486380215628
“Putin’s a killer.” This was the claim made by Fox News ‘journalist’ Bill O’Reilly during his recent interview with Donald Trump. Trump’s reply came in the form of a simple question. “What, you think our country’s so innocent?” It was a reply that succeeded in puncturing the bubble of exceptionalism in which Mr O’Reilly and those like him have long chosen to cocoon themselves from reality.

It was an extraordinary exchange, one that has gone viral on social media since. For liberals in the US and beyond it is being touted as yet more evidence of the fact that Donald Trump is completely unsuited to the rigors of the office of President. Meanwhile for dyed-in-the-wool neocons it suggests a leader of the so-called free world who is yet to realize the difference between ‘us’, the good guys, and ‘them’, the bad guys.

“Putin’s a killer.” Just ponder this statement for a moment, consider the ignorance, arrogance, and delusion it describes. Consider, too, the millions of human slaughtered by successive US presidents over the years, going back, say, to the Korean War and working your way forward. That they were killed in the name of democracy and human rights, at least according to Bill O’Reilly and the rest of the gang over at Fox News, is a boast as preposterous as it is grotesque. Firstly, justifying the wholesale slaughter of men, women, and children in the name of democracy renders the word completely meaningless. And secondly, what Mr O’Reilly describes as democracy others would describe as imperialism.

But then, you see, this is the problem when you sit at the apex of the most destructive empire the world has ever known. It distorts your sense reality to the point where you become intoxicated with the associated myths used to justify this empire and the vast destruction it has wreaked and continues to wreak across the world.

We see this distortion in the way that Barack Obama has been allowed to walk off into the sunset with the highest approval ratings of any US president in living memory, lamented as one of the most progressive leaders ever to occupy the Oval Office. It is a rendering of the legacy country’s first black president that fails to pass even the most tepid scrutiny.

Obama’s administration was, to be frank, a veritable killing machine, one comprising almost daily drone strikes, kill lists, and the wholesale destruction of entire countries, as in the case of Libya. In his final year in office the US dropped 27,000 bombs, up from the number dropped in 2015. Yet we are meant to regard the 44th president and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize as the modern incarnation of Dr Martin Luther King, a president who worked tirelessly for peace and justice.

etc etc etc

You know what I was thinking about the two electoral candidates Dieter?

Both are absolutely full of it but at least with the Donald you know he is a snake oil salesman from way back whereas she had this mock outrage and pretentious faux disgust.

They both used lies and deceit every day of the campaign, and she had the audacity to use Pussygate as if it was a surprise that people speak that way in private. Her personal life is full of skeletons as it would have to be.Bill Clintons sex life pales into insignificance when compared to his wife.Worse than Nancy Reagan's.Or better I should say ,and good luck to her.

What I and obviously others did not like is that she actually thought she could still fool people and not even release one policy idea. She had no plan but to sit back and embarrass the Donald or let him do it to himself.Even idiots don't like condescension. The whole time the Media just telling us it was Hillary by a landslide.

Trump was not a man of deception but a straight out honest bullsh!tter ,unashamed white male privileged Alpha male. She sat back with her fake smile and said and did nought. She deserved to lose.

At least Trump explained his thought process, unpopular is it is, or so we thought.

You and I both know he is going to follow the Neocon plan through .

With her she was a fake and a fraud and her Ponzi charity crap is over.

When somebody lies to me I appreciate the ability to lie unashamedly.

People don't mind being  lied to but they hate having their intelligence insulted.

There is a huge difference .

What I find really interesting is how the conservative media has shifted perspectives on the Russians and particularly Putin himself. He's transformed from a power hungry, expansionist dictator to an alright guy that conservative Americans are happy for their country to cosy up to. I know he's white and Christian, but I hardly need mention the rivalry these two countries have shared for years.

I was stunned when the Democrats barely bothered to attack Trump for his ties to Russia. And even more so, when he was attacked, that this seemed to have no effect on the constituency or Trump's popularity. In previous elections it would have been deemed political suicide for an American politician to take the stance Trump did with Putin. But in the age of INFOWARS, Breitbart and our liberal and conservative echo chambers, it failed to harm Trump.

But what's more troubling is that the world seems to have a blindspot when it comes to the Russians. The entire Russian Navy sailed down the English Channel in October last year and that failed to make world news. That is insane, unauthorised posturing by Putin. And, by the way, if ever there was a more obvious signpost that we've entered the Second Cold War, I haven't seen one yet.

Nevertheless, I find Putin a fascinating character, because his man Vladislav Surkov (his Chief Political Strategist) is playing from a very different playbook and the West don't quite know how to react to his theatre politics. I suspect this is in part why the Dems and the liberal media are holding back from attacking Putin. This, along with a little war that continues to rage on in Ukraine, which has gone conspicuously underreported for near on two years now, could also be a major reason for this stasis.

Why? Because as was being muted back in 2014 at the beginning of the fighting in Donbass, and particularly after the shooting down of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17, Putin is and continues to financially back so-called "separatists" in the East of Ukraine. This is where according to the UN, close to 10,000 people have been killed (http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=56110#.WJ2-k7Z94Xp). Putin is inching closer to taking territory from the Ukraine and all in the name of Mother Russia. What might explain the lack of reporting of this war is the chilling and uncomfortable parallels between this and the onset of World War 2.

But this is where we come back to Trump and his administration, who are almost certainly copying pages from Surkov's political technologist playbook. One could argue that Trump and his people have even taken it a step further with their 'alternative facts', invented massacres and labelling of the mainstream media as fake news. However, there are more overt similarities between how Putin runs his regime and what Trump and his people are trying to do. If you distract everyone by creating such uncertainty (between what is real and what is fake), you can then waltz in and change a country during the night. And if Trump has his way in the courts, he may well be able to do just that.

If you hadn't noticed,Russia,China  and Vietnam are communist in name only.

These are massive populations requiring reliable food and energy resources to sustain them and they don't put up with P!ssant dissenters like you and Tony Abbott threatening to shirt front them.

A weakling like Cameron was hardly going to stop The Russian Navy sailing through international waters.

The false Muslim killings you mentioned include the Nut job  Monis in the Lindt cafe who was waving the Isis flag around Sydney CBD.You argue some trivial points at times.

The Ukraine made a silly attempt to cut Russia's gas  supply, which they developed and built before they elected the boxer as President.

You may remember how Gazprom and other countries were ransacked by oligarchs after the fall of the USSR.Khordorovski and Berezovski if I recall and a few more opportunists like them.

I'd put the MH17 down to a drunk Russian soldier with an RPG,not as a state sponsored attack against the west, but we may never know.

Are you a conspiracy theorist on 9/11 because you have the same idiotic attributes?

All you need to understand is the "big men of history theory".

Trump and Putin subscribe to it and all your Facebooking won't change a thing.

You find Vlad fascinating because he has testicles.

A Second Cold War would be a financial and information-based "space race" between traditional Western powers and traditional Soviet bloc countries that have massive populations and rising middle classes.

The whole point of the posturing in the English Channel was that Cameron (and I'm the last person to defend him) was put in an impossible position. In that situation, you simply have to let them sail down the channel.

As usual you've pulled something out of your arse about false Muslim killings. I have no idea what you're referring too, but I suspect you've dropped a tab.

As for your claims that it is Ukraine's fault for cutting Russia's gas supply, that has no basis in the current war in Donbass, which started basically because Putin saw an opportunity to exploit the unrest following Euromaidan. Have you been watching too much state sponsored RT?

The rumours/theories at the time regarding MH17 were simply that Russia had sponsored the attack, in order that their forces enter the Ukraine without the Ukrainian government's permission. But apparently you think 'a drunk Russian soldier' is a more viable alternative. We'll agree to disagree there.

And I'm not sure comparing the MH17 shooting to 9/11 is the smartest idea either, given just yesterday the BBC reported that the supposed separatists were in fact being funded by the Kremlin. This also backs up those rumours/theories above about MH17 being a state sponsored attack.

But I do wonder what Vlad has, given his bravado and unpredictability. If he's anything like Trump, he's probably very, very emasculated when he looks down between his legs. Point stands though, he's an interesting character and undoubtedly a dictator.

Of course Russian troops are funded by the Kremlin .DER!!!

The Crimea has always been Russian! Australian/British subjects died trying to steal it from them in the 1850s

Russia doesn't need permission to go anywhere in its region.

My drunk soldier theory is highly possible you slow child. How does shooting a civilian jet help an army enter Ukraine?Did that idea transmit through a tin foil hat or did you invent it?

I've never compared 9/11 to it or with .(yet you yourself admit your theory is a rumour, then decide to re-print it)

I at least admit my theory is a guess since it was a land to air strike .

The Kremlin would envy your ability to disseminate misinformation.

You act as if they world leaders thrash things out over a peppermint tea and a yoga session.

I'm glad you have watched the BBC though. Its a safe house for mental midgets and Rolfs,Jimmy Savilles and sell-outs.

What twaddle. Yes, it should. You can't just go wherever you like as a country or would you be alright with the Chinese doing similar in Australia? No, you wouldn't because you want "China [kept] in check".

And of course you think one of, probably the most, reputable news source in the world in the BBC, is struggling for relevance in your Post-Truth world. To the contrary, news sources' like the BBC are now more important than ever.

And my "theory" as to why Russia might have done it is conjecture, yes, but the BBC did report that a Russian missile was fired from pro-Russian separatist-controlled land in Ukraine, while the Russians and even the pro-Russian separatists denied involvement. I'm not exactly sure what you're arguing there.

So when Russia and America become official allies in this fairyland of yours, what happens to America's alliance with Saudi Arabia and the conflict of interest with al-Assad and Putin? You don't think things through, Biff. Your worldview is incredibly simplistic and one dimensional. Typical of a neoliberal attitude.

What I find ridiculous is you stand up for Russia on the one hand, because they're in bed with Trump, but on the other hand, you say they "disseminate misinformation". So you're saying the Russian's can't be trusted when they say something? You realise you're shooting yourself in the foot, RE: the MH17 discussion?

Oh, and the argument was that the Kremlin was funding the Ukrainian separatists, not the Russian Army...

The BBC is not the squeaky clean outfit it seems to be. I first became sus when the BBC produced that dreadful Mavi Marvara Documentary with Jane Corbin. In one sequence she walks down a 'heavily muslim populated part of Istanbul' to prove that the attempt by this Turkish ship to run the Israeli blockade of Gaza was nothing but an attempt to embarrass poor little Israel. Jane then interviews the usual suspects of Israeli high command and spin doctors and the problem in Jane's eyes was the 'weapons of mass destruction' some of the people who the Israelis murdered used to defend themselves with, for example, iron railings. She may as well have done a documentary about Katyn and just quoted the KGB and Soviet historians and Generals. The BBC is now a propaganda outlet for British governments.

So let me get this straight, the Marxists are responsible for all the economic problems in America that Trump has identified as a problem. That is globalisation, the trend that sends jobs off shore to Mexico or China that leaves mid America destitute.  Nothing to do with capitalists there of course? He is going to stop that!

He is going to end global free trade agreements and look at bi-lateral trade agreements between individual countries that advantage the US. That will work because there are plenty of client states like Australia and sycophantic leaders like John Howard who will gladly sign up to any US free trade agreement (2007) only to be taken to the cleaners.

The Marxists have been big players in agreements like the TPP then?

So the Donald is going to drain from the swamp in Washington! As I have asked before how does he do it?

So it is Public servants who just follow orders, elected senators, congressmen, the rent seeking industry lobbyists, who infest the place?  Who is going to be drained, is it the Democrats you deem to be anti-capitalists? If so you are advocating a dictatorship then?

Can we start dealing in some facts rather than Trumpisms!

I never said the Marxists are responsible for all the economic problems in America or the TPP agreement, just said they are stupid.

As for draining the swamp it is about getting rid of people who mainly fall into one of the two categories below

1) the ones who are making decisions to feather their own nest

2) the ones who are hellbent on disrupting and breaking the existing system

Excuse the Oz examples I don't know enough about the American leaches.

A good example from number 1 is Julia Gillard who was sacked from the law firm she was a partner at for her role in setting up a slush fund for the illegal purchase of her then boyfriends house and who was later found by a Royal Commission to have acted improperly. Then she goes into Parliament becomes PM and donates $292m of Australia tax payer funded money to the Global Partnership for Education. Which after retiring from parliament she she goes on to chair the Global Partnership for Education.

A good example from number 2 is in Victoria we have Marxists like Roz Ward who are somehow propelled into positions where they can implement "safe school programs" that have nothing to do with safe schools or educational outcomes and are all about bringing down the system. When I cheer Trump for draining the swamp it is about getting the Roz Ward's of the world out of Washington and taking the stench with them.

So there will be no Roz wards or Julia Gillards in the USA under the Strumpet?

No self-featherers, you might say. I find it unbelivable that anyone can believe this. In the meantime, Strumpet tweets abuse at department stores that won't stock his daughter's label, he appoints members of the Strumpet clan to sinecures and positions of importance, appoints shady nuts like Tillerson, Bannon etc etc etc etc.
