Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

2016 Player Review - # 14 Lynden Dunn

Lynden Dunn found himself on the outer with the selectors who preferred their younger tall defenders. By season's end, his future at the club was in doubt.

Ex leadership player and great clubman. I'll remember his booming torps from full back kickins fondly. Best of luck for your future endeavours Dunny.

Best of luck for the future Dunny.

I'll remember him as a player who got the most out of himself with a thumping kick and the ability to get under the oppositions skin,  Will also also remember his debut on a Friday Night in the wet in 2006 with Neitz & Miller out of the side, Dunn came in and kicked 2 in an impressive debut.

Unfortunately Frost, Hibberd & Co. are the future. Let's hope that we get a second or or third round pick from Brisbane that we can offset our trade to Essendon.

I feel a bit sorry for Lynden. For years had to put up with being in the middle AFLs version of the killing fields - the Melbourne backline. It can't have been much fun being constantly under pressure with little hope of actually winning. For a while he was considered one of the best one on one players in the game but the game has moved on.

I hope he comes good with us, his kicking is an asset and he deserves some success with the team he has played with for so long. If not I'm sure most here wish him well with another club

165 games is not a bad effort and i think Dunny should be eligible for life membership to the club after more than 10 years service.

And in years to come we may see his son Emmett in the red and blue (Emmett Dunn ha ha)!

I have always been a big wrap for Lynden and he held our back line together over the past 3-4 years But the game changed this year and Dunny didn't or couldn't adapt to what the coaches needed from him. Mind you his thumping kick helped clear the ball out of our back line on a regular basis and I really miss this aspect of his game. Sad but Dunny and Col were some how superseded in 2016!!

Always been solid without being a star. The type of player you don't want to loose as you know he's more than a worthy back up best 22 player. Under the circumstances you cant begrudge him for wanting to find a club where he can play AFL footy.

Thanks Lynden for some very good games in our darkest years.

Sorry that our new game style doesn't fit your style, but you did your best in trying times.

Good luck whatever you do and keep your boy in the red and blue.

He always used to be paired with Matthew Bate in despatches. e.g why don't we offer Dunn + Bate for [insert name of champion from another club]?

Dunny turned his career around, and for a few seasons was a really good player. But, as others have said, the game has now passed him by.

And, like others, I wish him the best of luck. Shame that Brisbane has lost interest in him.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
