This guy impressed me yesterday.

Has there been a thread about him? I can' t find one.

How old is he? Where is he from?

If he' s under 25, I reckon the Demons should think about rookying him.

He showed flashes of brilliance. How much on field time did he get? He seemed to go missing at times, but perhaps that was because he wasn't on the ground. He was "23rd man." How is that different from the other interchange?

Did other Demonlanders notice him?

He has the x factor look and the skill of a classic left footer.  Opportunistic forward.  Not quite AFL standard but worthy of a senior place on Caseys list.

As I said yesterday we should be hiding him away instead of showcasing him. He looked good early but disappeared later on. He does look a likely prospect though for a rookey spot.

So Casey plays a good game on TV and suddenly we want to add most of their players to our list?

Let's just settle down a little here. Some of their players go alright but there is a steep jump to AFL level. One minute we want Kielty, then we are interested in Tim Smith, now we are talking about this bloke?

I think we can set our sights a little higher than this.

OK, he played for Gippsland in the TAC cup 2015 season.  From the numbers he was ok but not amazing, which is probably why he wasn't drafted.  Had a few games where he got up into the mid-20's for disposals, but more often in the teens.  Averaged just over 17 disposals in two years of TAC cup.  He's been playing in the development league and then as 23rd man in the senior side.  I'd like to be able to give his stats from the weekend, but the sportingpulse website has everybody listed as 0 in all stats except scores.

From what I can find, I'd say he's got a fair way to go yet before he gets drafted.

Looked to get to contests really well, but was a headless chook when in possession.  Seemed to have no footy smarts on execution, loved to run in circles, and offloaded to players in bad positions.

but he did zip about.  Not AFL standard from what I saw of the game.  Would see him in VFL.

You make a good point Wiseblood. While Ferreira's been impressive in the two finals he's played so far, he's spent most his year in the D-League or at Wonthaggi, so would be a big jump to expect to see him on an AFL list next year. If we are to draft a young small forward, i'd expect it to be Dan Allsop out of Dandenong Stingrays who came 2nd in the Morrish Medal. We have access to him through our indigenous/multi cultural zone so have first dibs.

Casey have a few players that may get some attention come draft time. However i feel the only ones we'd be likely to consider are the skipper Hutchins (if Dunn goes to Brisbane) and McInerney as ruck support. Keilty, Smith and Munroe could be looked at by others.

Sure, but there's only so much you can get with pick 98...

I highly doubt we'll still be in the game at pick 98.

Yep, unlikely we'll use that pick, more using it as an example of how not every player we pick up will be a superstar or even a best 22 player. This time of year everyone gets a bit obsessed with chasing "guns" without realizing we only have so much currency to use.

True, but that wasn't necessarily my point.  It's more that, because Casey has had a good year, we seemingly want most of their senior players on our list.  We have a thread for Kielty, McInerny and now Ferreira, plus others have spoken in other threads about Tim Smith and Angus Scott.  I think we're just getting a little carried away with their form.  I'm stoked they've had a good year, but I think the discussion around them has been a little over the top.

Yeah it definitely has, think the excitement of finals has got to some, but I don't blame them. This kid though, he has a bit of spark about him, really clean hands, especially for someone so fresh to the game. Don't discount him just because of how much Casey talk there's been, he has some talents that could really fit with our needs if Taylor sees enough in him to develop them. He'd be a speculative pickup, but that's why I was using pick 98 as an example. At some stage I'd like to see us take 1 or 2 gambles on kids with "X factor" to go with all the tough mids we've been adding in.

Id give him a chance to train over the pre season with the Dees (like they did with Keilty) and let him then develope next year in the 1s to see if he can really take the next step.

Exciting talent though. Hopefully he plays in the Grand Final as the quick deck would suit him perfectly.

Gee I only saw him on TV, looked pretty good to me, he has played 4 games at that level so you need to cut some flack. I didn't notice him running in circles like a headless chook.

From what I know he is relative new to the game, he's only been playing for a couple of years (4-5 years) . He comes from  a soccer background and only  did top age and overage at tac  cup with Gippsland power.

He did come top 5 at the morrish  medal last year, which is not a bad effort for someone just learning the game. https://afldraftcentral.com.au/2015/09/18/oliver-piece/

What do you guys think?

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
