Jetta T.McD Frost

Salem O.McD Vince ('Hibberd')

Hunt Viney Stretch

Petracca Hogan Kent

Garlett Weideman Watts

Gawn Tyson N.Jones

Oliver Brayshaw Melksham Harmes

I think this best 22 looks ready for finals action.

Depth: fwds - Kennedy Jkh Pedersen Hulett, mids - ANB M.Jones Vdhberg Bugg Trengove, backs - Dunn Garland White* Wagner* j.smith(r)  rucks - Spencer Mitch.King

? Lumumba

(missing Grimes Dawes Newton Terlich Michie* Max King*)

B: JETTA, FROST, O.MCDONALD

HB: MELKSHAM, T.MCDONALD, HIBBERD

C: HUNT, N.JONES, VINCE

HF: BRAYSHAW, HOGAN, PETRACCA

F: WATTS, WEIDEMAN, KENT

FOLL: GAWN, TYSON, VINEY

IC: OLIVER, STRETCH, SALEM, VANDENBERG

Bit to early, there are always surprises in the trade/draft period

Maybe you should put Hunt on the right wing

Jetta- TMac-Salem

Hunt-Frost-Hibberd

(Wagner, Bugg,Lumumba,White)

Melksham-Viney-Vince

(Brayshaw,Oliver,Kennedy,ANB,Newton,Trengove,stretch)

Petracca-Hogan-Kent

Watts-Weed-Garlett

(Vanders, Pedo,Harmes,)

ruck-Gawn-Jones-Tyson

Finally, we will have players I want in the team who don't fit due to depth! Snag one or two surprises in the trade period and it starts to get exciting

Ofcourse it is too early for such predictions but why are people putting Melksham in the side. Hibberd I understand but the other bloke. Nah.

Because Melksham is a Demon.

I know he's been injured this year but I am disappointed that Fyfe wasn't selected somewhere. Other than that this looks fine to me.

Also, harsh on Terls, I'd have him on the ground somewhere. Doesn't matter where, he will get it done

Trolling surely?

No I am questioning whether he is in our best 22 and I don't think so. Just an opinion.

Hibberd and Melksham in and the Bummers as our Round 1 opponent in preliminary AFL thoughts on the fixture, I believe! Well played, Gil!

But early considering trades, draft and nab challenge but..

B: Frost, O.Mac, Jetta

HB: Hibberd, T.Mac, Hunt

C: Stretch, Tyson, Vince

HF: Petracca, Hogan, Kent

FF: Watts, Weideman, Garlett

FOLL: Gawn, Jones, Viney

INT: Brayshaw, Salem, Oliver, Melksham

Harmes and Wagner must work on kicking skills

You could fit him in of you didn't have Vince in twice!

Sorry Melksham should be in midfield group. Brings run and carry and footspeed. Good mix of mids.

I know it is early, but this looks the goods at this stage.

Impossible to do one of these until the list us finalized

Said the same thing last year but don't want to play Bombers first up or first game in Melbourne.

They will be so hyped up with their players back.

Happy to play them later in the season.

Demonlanders were laughing at me when I said we would lose to them in round 2, months earlier.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
