Thanks for the link.

Hes an interesting guy and imagine he would be very well liked around the club.

Seen him after games always happy to sign autographs and talk to supporters.

"I wouldn’t change my career even though I had those two recos because the first four years I was basically watching the game in the stands with the fans. I was a supporter and fell in love with the club. I found myself yelling in the crowd.  "

Onya Max. Sign me up for a braised steak jaffle.

Why does jaffle fail spellchecker?

I'm sure I'll be in the vast minority here but for me our appalling lack of on-field success under Neeld was as much, if not more, of an indictment on the playing group at the time as it was on him as a coach.

Yes he may have gone too hard too early, but it's AFL football, if you're not prepared to hear some home truths and work your arse off then you're in the wrong game.

Oh yeah. We have had a lot of players collecting good money over the last Decade who haven't deserved it. That's why i stopped watching the 2013 season after Round 2

It was way beyond a joke

So happy for Maxxy. He seems like a ripper bloke and has had to work really hard to get where he is. Touching to hear that he still thinks about Jimmy.

Ripper Interview, best thing I've read in the hun for ever. I have to say as much as Robbo can irritate me, I find myself enjoying his contribution to 360.

He works well with Whately, everyone calls him slobbo but I think he asks some very good questions that Whately isn't prepared to ask even though he isn't very articulate.

Being in the minority doesn't mean you're wrong. Neeld might not have turned out to be a good coach but he was given a difficult and thankless task at the time and I think it's great of Max to acknowledge him.

I have heard Max say something similar previously in an interview with Martin Flanagan. On that occasion he stated the obvious, 'I got along with him personally but his game plan didn't work.' I think Maxy was being generous there as the reasons why things went pear shaped went beyond that.
Jonesy has said the same thing. While he helped his game personally, Nate could understand that not everyone was built the same way and that the 'my way or the highway' approach in some cases could be counterproductive
I think Mark ultimately was put (and allowed himself to be put) into a situation he was never going to succeed in. He was trying to do what Roos has been doing the last three years (overhaul a broken culture). Roos is a ten year plus coach with premiership credentials but he too would have been on a hiding to nothing if he hadn't received support from people like PJ.
Praising Neeld's tenure is sometimes akin to praising mosquito bites or venereal disease in these parts but as Jack said, it's nice to see Maxy give him a shout out.
