GAMEDAY - Round 19

Petracca has a lot of Dustin Martin about him (minus the bogan attitude and neck tatts).

Aye. Missed so many open players up forward.

...or just anywhere..

Vanders!

I take my Vandenberg comment back.

Vandenberg with another! Egg on my face right now.

VDB has arrived, albeit 1.5 quarters late =P

Petrucka stormed through the midfield today killing 3 Gold Coast players. Josh Mahoney has claimed responsibility

Terrible joke sorry.

Hes quickly become an Afl player in a few weeks....rising star surely.

Credit to Hogan for the tackle to create that opportunity

One bad handball.

The MFC story of 2016.

Oh ffs Gawn?! Again the brain farts are not AFL level players! That goodness Lynch missed the resultant shot on goal.

Much better second quarter there, albeit with plenty of mistakes and poor decisions.

I think our tall backs have been pretty good.  Love Frost's run and OMac has shown a bit too.  His brother, on the other hand, hasn't been up to scratch... yet.

Petracca is a class above and it's good to see us using the ball a little better and actually hitting the scoreboard.  We got the best and worst of AVB, but he showed why was picked with those 2 goals.

Gawny gets a pass. 37 hit outs to 4.

You've got it all wrong Gorgs, this is the only way to get better. There's no point practicing anything at training, it's meaningless. The only way to learn to handball better is to just keep doing it during a game, over and [censored] over again. They may have a match KPI that if they can get to 300 handballs during a game they call off training for the week altogther.

Ah yes.  Forgot that. Carry on.

That last 5 minutes of cohesion was very welcome after what has to be one of the worst halves of football I've seen all year.  It's definitely been a race to the bottom so far.

Brayshaw and Petracca looking in really good nick.  Hopefully after this game I can update my avatar with a pic with both of them in footy jumpers, finally.

Vince 4 disposals..

Barely sighted in the second term.  Injured, or being tagged out of the game?

Tyson best player on the ground by quite a way. Well done, Dom. Showing good leadership.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
