Wagner to Day is probably a bit iffy, Dunn or Garland is the logical replacement for O. McDonald but not sure who else should come out of the team?

I agree with what you've mentioned however Wagner to Day is a matchup that Gold Coast will thrive on. Imagine clearing out the forward line to leave Wagner on Day- he will have a field day. Our main problem is our third tall- OMac to one of Wright, Lynch and Day is similar to Wagner. Although OMac has height, he is no match up on those key forwards in terms of strength experience and game awareness. Our problem is we don't have a proper backup. Dunn is probably the only logical replacement but he too is coming back from injury and is probably too slow on the lead.

No change is my tip.

I was at Metricon for our previous encounter. Ablett wasn't fit and his 22 disposals were, for the most part, ineffective.

Lynch had 4 goals in the first half and none thereafter. Wright no real danger (9 disposals, 2 goals). Day was unsighted (11 disposals, no score).

Wright appears to have improved markedly since that game. If OMac was dropped I think Garland's footy nous may be of use (Day?).

BTW is $1.19 (v $4.75) the shortest we've been this year? Being favourite is enough of a concern, let alone being that short.

Probably the shortest we have been since the first ever games we played against GWS and Gold Coast.  Cant believe those odds.

Thats true, but we are still Melbourne.  And returning from Perth having played in Darwin just a few weeks ago.

We should be favourites but those odds are a little silly. Gold Coast won last week too.

Reading between the lines of the VFL player review I am thinking the only changes will be for injury.

Tomas Bugg: Tom had 26 possessions, including 15 contested. He had a massive 18 tackles and seven clearances. His numbers give you an indication that he was right among the action. He led the way in a manner that he attacked the ball. It was a really solid game from him – it was what we expected and what we need from him. He’s had two games back at VFL level and both of them have been at a really high level. Tom is in line for a recall, if the opportunity is there.

Viv Michie: He had 36 disposals, 10 marks and six inside 50s. Viv continued to perform at a really high level in the VFL. His ability to create uncontested chains and give our team some real run and creativity, around his ball use, was particularly good. He’s had a super year in the VFL and he’s put himself in line to be selected, if an opportunity presents itself at AFL level.

Ben Newton: Ben had 28 possessions, which included 16 contested. He had six clearances and kicked a goal. Ben’s past three weeks have been really solid. He plays a number of different roles for us and plays off half-back and the wing. Ben’s a creative player – he won the ball on the inside and on the outside. He’s another player who had a big impact on the day. He’s pushing to play senior football, if an opportunity comes up.

Clayton Oliver: Clayton had 28 possessions, including 15 contested. He had eight tackles and five inside 50s. He’s one of our first-year players and was down a bit in the past couple of weeks, but he really responded in a really strong manner. Clayton was really good around the stoppages and he’s a hard player to play on because he shows really quick reaction time to get in at the football. He uses his hands to release people from tight situations. That was as good a VFL game as I’ve seen him play. He’s another one who is pushing to play senior football, if an opportunity comes up.
