Great news that Viney is playing.  Even if he isn't at 100% he is still better than most of their midfield.  If we can shut down Sloane, or at least keep his impact on the game minimal, then our midfield should well and truly get on top of theirs.

Don't agree with whoever it was who said Hogan will get shut down by Talia - if we get it in their quick enough, and use it well, then Hogan can easily kick goals on Talia.  If we play in to their hands then it makes things difficult.

Its almost as if the only football people who dont think Hogan is a complete gun are some pessimistic MFC fans.

Talia is a very good full back but Hulk Hogan has beaten better players than him.  Should be a good  battle.

Our record after the bye is not good. Phil Walsh's anniversary will ensure they come out firing. I can't see us winning, but we will be in it for a long way I reckon. Go Dees.

Good news:  Win, Loose or Draw our position on the ladder won't change!

But how good would a win be to give us a win and % buffer on the other teams on 6/8!

Yep. Objective is get it up the other end as much as possible for as long as possible. 

Pressure, pressure, pressure. We need to hit them hard from the start, get on the scoreboard and keep putting the pressure on. Don't give their outside game any time or space.

Will "on" last more than the first 10 minutes? That seems to be the pattern against sides that aren't "off".  Our last 5 losses have us starting very well then folding when the opposition call our bluff.

Don't agree. I don't think that happened in the North, WB, Hawthorn or Sydney games at all.

It's about the rest of the ground which is far more even.

For example, it's not like our backline matched up that well against Gunston, Rioli, Breust and Puopolo either, but we were in the Hawthorn game to the very end.

If we limit our own turnovers when we have the ball and if we pressure them when they have it in the middle, we can win.

Hawthorns forward line is far poorer than Adelaides.

Far poorer?  Adelaide have only scored 50 more points across the season than the Hawks.  I know all scores don't just come from the forward line, but clearly the Hawks can score just as well as the Crows.  If we can defend like we did against the Hawks then it gives us a chance.

I know it's a group. Adelaide's forward group is far better than our defensive group. My point is that if we limit the inside 50s, that forward group doesn't get the chance to exploit our defensive group.

As for the Hawthorn comment, Hawthorn might not be scoring as much as Adelaide (roughly 101 to 112 points per game) but there's no doubt that Hawthorn's forward line, as a "collective group", is also much better than our defensive group. 

The point is that we can beat sides with strong forward lines which, on paper, will destroy our young backline, if we play well in the other 2/3 of the ground.

Yeah, far poorer was probably putting a bit too much mayo on it. But without Roughhead they are missing what Tex provides the Crows. 

I think Tmac has a reasonable record against Tex but Omac could get his arse handed to him from Jenkins today.

Mids need to shut down Sloane and Thompson because they're so active in score assists to the Crows big forwards.

Ultimately, we'll need to be extremely efficient forward if we are to get close. It could be a shootout...or it could be a blowout. Our forwards not performing is more likely than our backline stopping their attackers. We'll need a well-rounded, balanced team performance. A defensive game won't get it done. They'll eventually push past our inexperience. I say we try to run them into the ground, apply hard pressure pressure pressure, and hit the scoreboard hard. Naturally. 

Winnable, but like I said earlier, I smell an old fashion football lesson coming up.

Very sombre day personally, I still remember when I heard the news about Phil last year. I highly doubt that I'd be focused strongly on football if I was playing today, and he was my coach about 12 years ago. It would be much more difficult for players who had him up until 12 months ago. Hard to get emotionally invested in this game, against anyone else I'd love to see adelaide win to "do it for walshy". Different circumstances, but last year when we beat Richmond just after Tommy hafey passed, I remember roos used that as motivation to the players. Perhaps today we might be motivated to do it again for a good footballing person. I'd just like to see a good hard fought contest played in a manner befitting a terrific mentor, coach and great bloke.

I want to see 4 quarters of manic forward pressure from us. Want the Crows. moving forward like they have a ball and chain attached to their legs.

Let's see where we are as a team. Either we're well on our way, or we severely overestimate where the club is at.
