I think Sylvia's Wizard cup form was fantastic and he was consistently in our best players. Definate A-grader. If he plays next season like he did in those Wizard cup games he will be able to finish top 5 in our best and fairest. But i doubt he will be able to do that because he is either injured or in the forward pocket.

I think Sylvia is still having his OP issue managed by the Club and is not fully fit so far.

I hope that changes for 2007. He has shown glimpses in early 2006 that he could be something good.

Given that towards the end of last year, Carroll played 3 great games and then was most-improved this year, for me the same has to be said about Bell. Last 3 games were a huge effort from him and i would not be surprised if he has similar success next year as to what Carroll had this year.

Bell is the one to watch, but Sylvia surely has to show why we took him at pick #3 some time soon, he will also be in contention for most improved.

Agree 100%.

I think Bell and Sylvia will take big steps next year.

I'm going with Jamar. He is my adopted player for 2007.

More game time, with prolonged stints up forward and an increase in confidence, means Jamar will no longer be just the back-up.

Also, I have a gut feeling that Jared Rivers is about to really come of age. He has been solid since the start, but he has now graduated from the "School of Insane Bravery", and I expect big things from him.

Oh, and if McLean remains injury free....

I just thought i would bring this up for disscution from a long way back just for every one to read the whole post and then to make there coments thank you. :D

I was so confused initially reading this thread.. I didn't realise that it was from '06!

Ahh the true blonde in me..

I agree with Chooka for Charlie.. we're going to end up jinxing more players so let's all remain hush hush!

cough *Sylvia* cough

.. and, in a week of huge milestones, that's 200 posts for deestroy06! :D

I'm hoping Miller's the man that improves out of sight and becomes one of the leading CHF's in the comp.

Didn't Brad take out the award in 2004? He seems to have rested on his laurels a bit.

Would being in our best 22 by the end of the year constitute huge improvement for Michael Newton? If so, I'll put my money on him!

Good tip.

bell will make the big step up, with jones right behind him

Another good tip.

Daniel bell for me! the guy is ready to fire up and show how much of a true talent he has.. same with sylvia his time is now!

go dees!

Another good tip.

The tips on the improved players were very good, it's just a pitty that somany around them have gone backwards.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
