Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Lol Mohr is in GWS best 22 and are currently 4th on the ladder... I think it's you who is joking...

Careful CC, that method of thinking doesn't always support a theory. Mark Blake was a premiership ruckman too at one point.

Cam McCarthy will take a little bit off their CAP. Guess it means Freo will get him for a song. But in general other clubs will be feasting on GWS leftovers. Tomlinson will be highly sought after. Picking up 40 possessions in the 2's as a mid and he is a big body.

As I previously mentioned he's a smokey IMO. But by all means if you think there is another gettable player that won't cost us much and will give 3 to 5 good years of service while our young KPB's develop then i'm all ears...

James Stewart is ripe for the taking with their salary cap space and is also out of contract at seasons end. At 196 cms and 93 kgs could be a very good get and still only 22. My other smokey would be Tim Mohr who has been dogged by injuries but I reckon he would be a good FB for us at 198cms and 105 kgs and still relatively young at 27.

I wanted us to rookie Mohr way back when he was at Casey.  Sadly GWS snatched him up.

What I'd really love is to get a pacy outside runner with quality disposal and decent vision.  We still fall down too often with our shocking delivery to the forwards and it's costing us games.  Until we get that sorted out there is no way we'll be any sort of contender.

Stretch and  Hunt say hello, but I get what you mean. Yes we need another one.

Mmmm, that is exactly what they said about West Coast, Adelaide and Brisbane 30 years ago. That seemed to work out alright!

Adelaide and West Coast are teams in AFL states so they were both eventually going to succeed and be able to long after them selves for a long time to come. Brisbane was a shambles up until the early 2000 And since there three flags in a row have become a shambles again.

Just a guess, but I think:

Going:
- McCarthy - off to WA
- Patton - Essendon circling, not sure he's really best 22 at GWS
- Tomlinson - can't get a game, Carlton keen

Possibly

- Marchbank - with big money he's out of contract
- Stewart
- Pickett  and Ahern - top 10 talents who have both had injuries
- Hoskin-Elliott - seems not to be first choice
- Finlayson - tall defender with a bit of talent

I reckon Marchbank will cost a heap (both in terms of cash and draft picks) with plenty of clubs after him. Not so sure about the others. With Weideman and Hulett I wouldn't want a tall forward from them. Finlayson might be worth asking about. Otherwise see if anyones available cheap to a good home like Bugg.

wouldn't go near pickett or wh-e.

can't understand the hard-on that people have for marchbank at all; he looks similar to jaksch and plowman to me, where he's just that little bit undersized to be a key back at afl level, and not quick / skilled enough to play the third tall.

tomlinson, stewart would suit our needs okay, i think, and i would love it if we could prise kelly free from them.

patton is absolutely best 22, but if the bombers want to give up their likely top 2-3 pick for him, they'll get him.

Marchbank looks big enough to me, definitely a bigger frame to Plowman I think, but certainly isn't a towering presence.

Lobb plays 2nd ruck/goal square forward, Cameron is a prolific goal kicker so needs room inside 50, I think ideally they'd rather a more mobile other tall than Patton. And he's done what 2 ACL's and other knee injuries? Seems to be just part of their team than an important part.

What would Tomlinson and Stewart do for us that Watts doesn't and Weideman (and maybe Hulett) soon will do? Neither are big or strong enough to be long term ruck options.

We'd all love Kelly but I can't see him going. Ward, Shiel, Coniglio, Greene, Hopper seem like their inside mids, Whitfield and Scully the wingers, but Kelly is that extra bonus class player who can play half forward, wing and inside mid.

Nick Haynes would be right up in the list of players I'd love from them. I'd offer them heaps for him.

My point entirely. The outcry about whether new teams would work happened widely when those teams came in with the common refrain "would you ever go to a grand final with Brisbane playing!" . It has just been replayed to me here re Gold Coast. The fact is a lot of people do not like change, and there is no more conservative person than a "dyed in the wool" AFL supporter.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
