While we are on Jack Viney in Olivers thread,

I remember reading once that Jack and his brother are both black belts in karate.

Can anyone verify this?

If he is,no wonder he tackles and brings players to ground the way he can.

Loved that Rance takedown and the one after the don't argue was tried on him last year.

I thought, Max, his younger brother is into expressive dance or ballet or whatever you call it.

Seriously.

Good call. Remember there being footage of a school performance or something last year, or pre-season.

Why was Peter Wright not done for his late hit on Jetta?  The footage is damning, he's clearly given up on contesting the mark and just turns the shoulder and rams into Jetta's back after he's taken the mark.  It should have been 50m on the day and a report.  Not only did the umpire not pay it at the time, but I haven't seen anything in the media about it.

Come on, it was late but it wasn't charging. It wasn't high. It got a 50 and that's what it deserved.

Doesn't have to be high to be reported.  As I said, he gave up on contesting the mark, turned the shoulder and ran through a player from behind.  That's a hell of a lot more likely to cause injury than a sling tackle.  It should have been a rough conduct report at the very least.

Agreed. Could easily be classed as low impact, intentional to the body.

Something like that is much more likely to do damage than the cheeky little stomach punches the ping players for these days.

Agreed, especially since Jetta was injured by it.

You're right, it could be considered rough conduct.

I don't think he meant any particular malice by it, I was satisfied with just the 50 and glad Nev came back on (and played a blinder).

Back to Oliver, I chuckled after the Prestia hit the umpire says "are you ok, Dion?"

Even funnier if Dion replied "Lucky I'll be playing with him next year".

Yep, should've been a fine IMO, or at least noted by the MRP. Pretty nasty cheap shot given he hit him right down the middle. Good to see Garland give it to the big lug.

I thought about it at the time, but decided Garland caused the impact just as much as 2MP with his slight bump

He also rag-dolled Lynch to the ground on Saturday night too.

Might be hypocritical when back to the OP I've decided Oliver was pushed in to contact but looked to me like Garland got him off balance but Wright had time to pull up and thought better of it.

Not worth a week though so no real issue.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
