There are a lot of talls playing and the conditions will be wet on Sunday

Is Matt Jones the first player ever to miss 3 weeks with general soreness?

Bit disappointed Hulett's been managed this week. His form has been on the steady improve so would have liked him to keep playing. Rest him once he had a quieter week.

As for the talls, i expect Dawes, the weed & King to all play forward withTim Smith (Casey vice captain) to play on a flank as a 4th tall as he's pretty mobile.

Surely Frost will play back.

Love to see Frost play back this week and see how he goes. If you havent read the de Stoop article on our future v St Kilda's it is worth a read and suggests that we dont have another A grader key back (yeah we know). So if we can develop Frost in this role it is very important. My only thought is that we were planning Frost to play forward in the pre-season because a) we hadn't drafted Weiderman and Hulett yet and b) we didnt know Watts was going to improve as he has. That gives us a lot of key forwards with Dawes and Pedo and not much up back.

Matty Jones must be really sore. No way he comes straight back into the 1's with 3 weeks off, so will put more pressure on his contract now as he has to break back in. With Jones, Salem, Brayshaw out and Michie, Stretch, and Oliver getting the call up to the 1's, it makes our 2's engine room look really light. Interesting to see what ANB and Trenners do this week considering that the Blues don't have an established midfield group. I know our boys are young, but the 2 of them just seem so much older than they are. Without the others (Michie etc) around the pack, will be nice to see Trenners, ANB and Grimes really play huge games.

Need Dawes down back. Need depth there

Why wouldn't we play O. McDonald there (and let Dawes play forward where he is accustomed)? Surely O. McDonald as a defender is more consistent with our long term future (considering the fact that both Weidman and Hulett were drafted asForwards)!

Dont read too much into the positions listed. They had Grimesthorpe lining up at FF for a couple of weeks there

disagree - Don't read ANYTHING into the positions listed

Dawes will not play on the HBF.

I am not usuallly a gambling man but would love to put my house and first born on Dawes lining up at CHF or FF ...

One former vice captain and 2 former captains playing for casey.

Newton is a nice addition to those guys. He has been working his way back into game time and form over last 3 weeks. Reckon his numbers will jump soon.

Must admit i am very suprised ANB hasn't cracked a senior game yet, he seems to get to the top of the cue and someone else gets picked over him, must be incredibly frustrating.

Nothing would surprise me - Jetta on Reiwoldt (at times) just boggled my mind completely.

interesting to me is i don't think Reiwoldt took advantage of it - he played really well but his damage was not on the much shorter Jetta as i would have expected.

So true, the bubble can burst so easily for players. And like many things, everyone has their use-by-date. You can't help but think that these 3 may all be gone season end. i hope for Trenners but time is running out for him as well.

St Kilda defence played rings around ours. They were chopping and changing so much that Jetta, Dunne and McD had no idea and completely lost contact - result one of the smallest players on the field left to defend against one of the tallest. Really frustrating to watch but so obvious that I wondered why wasnt the runner out. St Kilda must have been licking their lips - easy pickings.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
