Would love to see Roos still be involved with the club, somehow.

Maybe a return to the playing field? He could help give McDonald a chop out.

I think we'll see Goody turn over the coaching group a little bit when he comes in, personally think Rawlings might well move on anyway, he's been around a while and wants a senior role.

Maybe Goody could get someone like his old mate Bassett in as a backline coach?

I also think they'll target another experienced coach to replace Roosy, with Macca going to keep focusing on the development programs and so on.

Assuming that there are no perceived 'weak links' I reckon it will be important to keep most, if not all, of the current coaching team together for Goody's first year in the senior gig. Goody will obviously bring his stuff to the table, and that should be filtered throughout the panel, but a strong sense of stability will also be important if the transition is to be seamless.

Much merit in keeping a lot intact but there may well be one or two changes .

Just keep Macca ;)

Update on Roos plans.

In a 3AW interiview, Roos has said:

- he and Tammy will start a Leadership and Wellness company

- thinks Simon will be a fantastic coach

- looking forward to the Dees doing well and will be a Dees fan after he leaves

- he and PJ have had chats about next year but decided to focus on the next 8 weeks

- would enjoy coaching our women's team.

- his prior role at Sydney Academy was discussed (...we have a Multicultural Academy waiting to be developed)

- doesn't see him self going to another club - you become wedded to a club eg watching players like Watts and Jones develop

Would love to see Roos still be involved with the club, somehow.

Heard that and it would be good to see Roosy coach the Academy kids if at all possible.

Also at a function recently, PJ said that when he retires from his position at Melbourne, he will be a life long Member and Supporter of the Melbourne Football Club and will be at the games only on the other side of the glass.

As PJ has many good working years ahead of him I choose to interpret that as he will be at MFC for many a year!.

Along with Mahoney PJ makes our club rock solid off the field.

Does anyone know when Roosy actually signs off? I hope he stays around to offer advice during trade week and for drafting.  His record during this critical time can't be underestimated.

I imagine if things go okay next year there are going to be a lot of bumps. I personally know assistant coaches that have worked under Macca and they maintain he is great to work with.

I comment on a lot of different posts.Yes, I do follow the game, was involved a bit with the club between 1987 and 1996, my daughter was a statistician of the club for 7 of those years. Also spend a lot of time watching my Grandsons play who both involved with the Western Jets

I hope things improve next year. I doubt many of the posters who here don't rate Goodwin are hoping for a poor 2020 just so their Demonland reputation is kept in check. I hope to God that Goodwin proves me wrong.

Happy to be proven wrong too.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
