Iโ€™d bank on the FS being dead in the water by then.

Already on its last legs itโ€™ll only take one more top 5 prospect getting to a top 4 club to kill it.

academies yes definitely , fs no

I think he is considered a little bit position-less. Not quite a forward, not quite a back and only recently showing signs as a ruck.

I see that as a blank canvas to work with. But one club that I know of thinks he will take a fair bit of time and has average hands.

Iโ€™d be rapt to get him though. He can kick, elite athlete and apparently has a good head on his shoulders. His old man overcame what I would say, were not elite hands overhead, by jumping over blokes and taking chest marks. Kalani could do the same.

We can also expose him to the work habits and expertise of the greatest ruckman of the last decade.

Thereโ€™s no downside here.

Here, no downside.

I really hope young Kalani nominates the Dees. The red and blue blood is his veins. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™ Heโ€™s a quality youngster. But we would need to give him time to develop.

Suns already have Dylan Patterson and Beau Addinsall as more young midfielder stars to add in their academy intake as both are definitely 1st rounders.

Zeke Uwland is the best of them. Expected to be top 5.

Over the past 5 years maybe even decade, Melbourne have been exceptional at drafting our future stars. There's been a slight pattern in the Dees picks leaning towards more mids and even a few pickups for our defence. Kalani White, son of Jeff White, who is playing in the Gold Coast Suns academy does have the farther son opportunity to be taken by the Dees. He's 199 CM tall, agile and can take an amazing mark (shades of rookie Max Gawn). Also helps that Jeff has hinted to us that he'd love to see his kid in the colours he played for on social media.

Also mentions of Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves a wing/forward player has the same skill set to Caleb Windsor who could potentially be a massive pick up.

Just the 5 disposals for Kalani's game with the Allies against South Australia today.

Is Noah linked to us?

A perfect fit for the current match committee - he can start back, go OK, so be thrown forward and ruck until he goes well there then be thrown back again, or dropped.

His career could be ruined in a season or two.

Probably not. Noahโ€™s ship was seaworthy.

White is looking more like late draft pick or picked up in the rookie draft. Not tracking as a top 50 prospect.

Forgive my ignorance but is there a sub at VFL level?

No sub rule in the VFL. I believe the 23rd spot usually goes to U18s players or players from local leagues. Essendon also have an NGA player named for them this weekend in Adam Sweid.

Sorry, but I have to take exception to that commentโ€ฆ it should read, the greatest ruckman of all time!!

White and Jackson sure would be nice to have on the list.

Be happy with White, Jackson is a day dream.

I have never seen White play but reports don't seem wonderful. We could be the only bidders.

Just the right plan

I wonder what number Kalani will be wearing. KW34 sounds great!

From the team sheets online it looks like he'll be sporting #50

At the pre-Christmas Saturday morning park run and sausage sizzle, he was signing as #34 Kal White> Funnily enough, when I said that's your dad's number, he quickly replied, "It's mine now"

A real athlete and a project player. Needs a fair bit of size which will come in the AFL system. Certainly a lot to work with.

I hope he selects the Dees.

We only have Gawn, TC and Verrall at 199cm plus so room for Kalani.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demonsโ€™ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.
