Get the same pay to play with your mates or move 2hours away from family and friends? Not sure the size of the crowds is a massive thing for a young player.

Or choose the club your dad played for, that you have barracked for all your life, that won a flag 3 years ago and has played finals since, instead of a club that has never played a final and struggled to win a game away.

Meanwhile, all of our finals at the G in recent years have been massive crowds (including clearly out numbering Geelong and Hawks in 2018).

Never seen more Dees fans at a game than this one. We must’ve had at least 60,000 at that game - such was the amount of red & blue in the stands.

Selling it short IMO. Closer to 70,000 would've been Melbourne - or 10,000 neutrals supporting us.

It was our first taste for a long time and boy we weren’t disappointed to bad we couldn’t have played Weagles at the G.

I’m not saying it makes sense.

Just saying the crowd size is not a thing for some.

I don’t the club sees his selection to play for us as a lay down misere. Nor should we.

I agree with this although I'm sure the club would know his decision by now. Pity the good stuff doesn't leak!

Does anyone know if he can cook?  Crumbed whiting perhaps...

No.  Far stronger build even now.

Indeed! and is NOTHING like Cale Morton, whom was nothing more than a tall mid, who's lack of speed, decision-making under any pressure and foot-skills somehow got glossed over by all and sundry!

I am now of FIRM belief KW is off to GC. Based purely on current state-of-play, and vibe! Despite feeling since he surfaced Jeff raised him right, it now just feels like another Mac Andrew and Ah-Mu face-slap!!!

Lord I hope I am wrong.. but Mac still hurts, only solace I take was that on draft night I felt like one of few whom felt Mac would be a genuine Unicorn that'd take comp by storm, although now that kind of just feels like even more of a slap. AFL have absolutely rooted us, bloody disgrace.

The Dees do have a ruck coach position available and from what I have seen Jeff Whites analysis looks pretty spot on. From a business point of view, being in Victoria would be beneficial as well. Then I suppose Khalani might like to come too.

Apparently playing this morning in some exhibition game? Anyone watching?

Apparently not 😂

Defended really well. Very much lock down. Most goals I saw were kicked when he was on the bench. Didn’t see him lose a one on one. The bad, a little lazy with disposal. Feels early second rounder.

Managed to catch the game. Was a lot of other Gold Coast academy players (4 others) featuring too. With the change to the points system I think they don’t fight us too hard.

White was good without starring. Lock down key defender who didn’t give up any contests. In a game where the teams are made with little time to decide any game plan, he did his job.

Ah Mu, our non selectable NGA prospect, played up forward. Big unit who impacted contests well at ground level, but didn’t stick his marks.

Spot on to what I saw. I hope that if he stays back, he works on an intercept game as well.

Keeping his options open it appears…

this was exactly as had been forecast all along, and as the white family have made it clear that he will approach his draft year

the expectation is he'll make a decision by early in the new year

the fact that the twins are NOT joining the gold coast academy - at least that was the last bit of news about them - indicates to me that kalani might not be on the gold coast beyond 2025

with the changes to draft points allocation etc. and the plethora of players gc17 have available to them in the draft next year - including the prospective #1 pick - they may not prioritise having access to kalani

"Already well over 200cm, White faces a choice as he is eligible as a father-son to Melbourne and is part of Gold Coast’s academy, given he lives in Queensland.

The talented teen will get a glimpse at working under ruck captains Max Gawn and Jarrod Witts over the summer period, when he trains with both the Dees and Suns.

He will first train with Melbourne – where Jeff played 236 games after 32 with Fremantle – in December.

Then after Christmas he will join the Suns for a pre-season stint.

White played in the annual under-17 future stars game on the MCG on grand final morning in September."

Personally, I'm not so sure this is as a cut and dry regarding Kalani joining the Dees as some believe. Very hopeful he'll join us and here's hoping the glut of academy selections for GC next year may mean there's an inherent difficulty in getting to the GC.

I'm personally fairly confident.

Zeke Uwland is meant to be a top 10 pick, so it will be very difficult for them to match multiple bids.

Whoever Kalani's manager is will know this.

Without any insider info, I think Kalani has told us his choice, whatever it is.

If he is to be a back man, or a ruckman and chooses us, he has May and Lever and Max to learn from. Not many better than them to help your development as a young footballer, in the team your father starred for and guys you already know and have trained with before.

If he's told us he's chosen GC, why would we have him train with us?

We are on the same train.

I am hoping he wouldn’t use us, given the history, but might not have the same view of a short training stint with GC just to keep fit and say he at least considered them.

Anyway here’s hoping.

I hope they trial him as a forward/ruck this year as well... could really boost his draft stocks if he can dominate in that role.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
