it's his choice but it doesn't sit well with me

Because of Essendon's dilemma/recent history or just because you don't like our ex-players playing with someone else?

If it's the former, I think the Essendon of today is quite different to the one of 2012-2015. For a start, most of the people on the coaching and admin side implicated in the problem have gone (and any that haven't, including Board members should go). And allย of the players he'd be playing with, by definition, are clean.

I don't understand how that could now happen as Cross is contracted in a developmental role at the club.

Understandably he wanted to play on last year and I'm sure he is still top-notch from a physical stand point, but he would be sacrificing an on-going job if he decides to play on for one more year the Essendon.

He is also our on-field runner this year. I think he would be more than satisfied with his position.

SKOB FC are nervous.

Who will hit the ball down to Bail and Co.?

As are Albury where Crossy is playing a few games this year. ;)

ย

Can we donate Terlich and Matt Jones to them?

Interesting in that it raises an argument that a one offย exemption shouldย be created such that Essendon can assume the contracts ofย presentlyย contractedย players from other clubs if those clubs are effectively willing to trade them.

I'm sure each club would have a few players who would fall into that category.

That said, I reckon Matt Jones is okay.

I hope Jamar does get a gig with Essendon and I hope he sucks as much money out of them as he can...

He would be paid next to bugger all.

Why? Wouldn't that be a negotiation? Certainly depending on a number of factors we have no idea about like total player payments of the banned ones, what the AFL will allow (ie give as much help to Ess as possible) etc.

ย

It won't be Essendon's money. The AFL, who are doing their best to help Essendon skyrocket back up the ladder (remember, profits before ethics), will foot the bill for any payments required over the salary cap. I've no doubt the entire reason they didn't specify their additional TPP allowance is because they'll let Essendon dictate terms on how much they need first. A "name your price" arrangement with all their replacement players.

ย

If Crossy is fair dinkum about going to the dark side, they must get rid of him now.

He is privy to game plans and surely he must have signed a confidentiality statement.

To be fair, I was not suggesting that it was Crossy's idea, just another initiative of a morally bankrupt AFL keep to ensure the survival of the power clubs overย all the others.

I know an essyscum supporter who used to laugh at Jamar and take the p......I must go and catch up with him...

Who said inaccurate?

well you're bagging him for making a totally fair comment, I assumed there must have been a reason

Jamar, Miller, Garland etc etc legends the lot of them, and between them more losses than you can poke a stick at

ย

Why?ย ย ย  They will have get their top up players from somewhere.ย ย ย  Another year of an AFL wage beats the hell out of wages in the minor league.

ย

Although I'm pretty sure Stย Kevin's were going to be looking after him pretty well ...

It was a rubbish and unnecessary comment.ย  Demonland seems to be flooded by the same comments, by the same people that add nothing to the discussion and it is becoming very boring.

^yuck

I mean good luck to him in getting another year out of his career, but yuck.

i really hope Crossy doesn't fill in for them. Forย some reason that would bother meย more than Russian.

3 - 4 years ago I argued strongly here on DL to trade the Russian while he had currency and keep Stef Martin.ย

ย

Mark did his best for us and we probably dropped him at the right time.ย  I feel fine about him doing whatever he wants now, including playing for Essendrug.ย

ย

Thanks for your service and all the best to you Mark!

I assume ruck coaches aren't the most highly paid positions going. We gave the Russian the heave ho so no qualms with him accepting an extension to his playing career.ย

Cross on the other hand is an employee of the Melbourne football club so would take umbrage to him leaving.ย

Cross would bother me more from a logical standpoint given his role at the club.ย But strangely just the sightย of him in an Essendon jumper would bother me more than Russian. They don't deserve him.

Yes the Russian'sย relatives aren't going to be too happy about "them" trying to hold him down to give him a shot.

we should have given cross another year, if this mess allows him to have that at Essendon I won't begrudge him one bit for it
