I am in shock, talk about one from left field! He releases a new album three days ago on his 69th birthday and next this? I went to the Bowie exposition at ACMI in October and it was only then that I fully realised the depth and breadth of his work. I loved his music video Lets dance  circa 1983 shot in OZ.

One of the modern greats! RIP

I grew up on Bowie and am shattered,

Saw him a few years back ( last time he was in Australia) and he was mind blowing....

Me too Earl....  I've been enjoying his works more & more in recent decades as they last the test of time.   I feel sort of empty with this news, unprepared for it.

yes, a true great of the rock'n'roll culture.....

Envious of those who got to see him at his peak, although it's debateable exactly when that was for such a musical chameleon.

Having watched hours of interviews with him before and since his passing, you have to marvel at how he treated everyone with the same level of respect and warmth. I was unaware of the depth of his love and fascination for Australia, outside of his decision to film the "Let's Dance" film clip here. That was a happy discovery upon his death.

A remarkably quiet and dignified exit from this world it must be said. A class act to the end.

I think I heard it mentioned in one of the documentaries or remembrances, that he spent a period of almost 10 years living on and off in Australia... he had an apartment in Sydney's Elizabeth Bay.  It was funny hearing the director of Let's Dance talking about the filming in the outback pub... he said that while the people at the bar all appear to be happy and enjoying themselves, apparently they all hated Bowie and the crew and didn't hold back in letting them know what they thought of them.

Someone who looks and talks like Bowie walking into an outback pub. I'd be surprised if they didn't take an immediate dislike :)

I love Bowie but what he said about the internet wasn't insightful. That he said there was not music icon in the 90's is offensive. Nirvana syas hi...

This interview is truly amazing...What he says about the internet in 1999

Your opinion

i don't rate Kurt that highly. A few good songs with heroin then he blows his head off...Sad but true.

What Bowie said about the 21st century being "the Grey area" in between is spot on. The internet has changed Art & Communication. In 1999 i opened my first email account. He was already buying internet companies...

Ok. Are you taking points off Kurt for his heroin use? Because I think you will find Bowie wasn't a Saint. Everyone knows Major Tom's a junky....

I love Bowie so not gonna argue.

If there are any Eagles fans out there, then you'll be devestated to learn that Glenn Frey has also passed away at the age of 67. Bowie, Rickman and now Frey. 2016 has been a sad year so far...

Was never a fan of The Eagles, but sad none-the-less... another to pass on today was Dallas Taylor, the drummer for Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young who died of unknown causes aged 66.

And with Alan Rickman gone, it's been a bad week or so for fame.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
