This is the article about Tom Lynch resigning  http://www.goldcoastfc.com.au/news/2016-02-02/media-reports-suggest-lynch-to-sign

It also mentions the following "(Mark) Robinson also writes the Lynch news comes as confidence grows that gun midfielders Dion Prestia and Jaeger O’Meara will also sign new deals."

Interesting Tom Lynch stats  :-

"Lynch booted 43.33 from 20 appearances in 2015, averaging 14.8 possessions, 6.7 marks, 3.6 inside 50s as well as wielding influence over the entire field with his presence.

The 23-year-old polled in 13 games, with a purple patch from round 17 to round 20 underpinning a brilliant season for the spearhead. Hauls of 46 and 43 goals in the last two years provide a launching pad to elevate his game further in 2016 and could see him enter the very top echelon of key forwards in the game in seasons to come."

We love our Jesse and I for one are very hopeful about Weideman but jeez this blokes pretty impressive and they've got Peter Wright building as well. I don't take much notice of GC so he hasn't been on my radar that much. Same for Prestia for that matter. Have barely seen him play. He's only 175cm. Pretty short for how the games played nowadays. Love the Jaegermeister.

I look forward to Jesse playing for us in his third and fourth (actually his second to for that matter).  He was "wielding influence over the entire field with his presence" in year 1.

But this is a Prestia / O'Meara thread - either would be (if fit) a huge bonus: both would be orgasmogenic!

Yeh knew I was pushing the thread a bit but hey, who can resist a Hoges mention. It was in the context of moving on to your "orgasmogenic!" duo. Don't you just love this time of the year.

This is a classic example of why I love this site. Ask and you will be answered. Wouldn't have found this without you. Thanks GTG!

Its a Gen y thing. Everyone can lead, everyone gets a participation ribbon....

You're always banging on about Gen Y, jnrmac. To be fair though, Gen Z are the ones with participation ribbons. My Gen Yers just want to get places no matter what. Shall I bang on about the Baby Boomers sitting in jobs for too long, so that poor old Gen Xers get too old and then passed over for Gen Yers?

Every generation has their thing. Give the Gen Y thing a rest though. I've been reading it for years.

And from what I've heard, I'd be very surprised if they both re-sign with the Suns.

Id like to think, are weasel words for, regardless of what I have actually done I'd like to think I'm a loyal person. (I'd like to think that the EFC players have done nothing wrong)

I'm not interested in speaking to other clubs at this stage. Can mean I have already done it or will be doing it soon or my manager has done it for me.

He is gone!  I spoke to $cully personally and his weasel words to me made me think he was gone.

Of course he has already spoken to other clubs, with discussions going as far as they can go just now, and has scheduled to resume talks late in the 2016 season.

I'm referring to your constant hostility towards the new franchises SWYL.

....  the almost hatred of those clubs interstate..  yes we have so far lost our local tribalism,  but we can renew the tribalism with those interstate..  but not by wishing they folded.  but rather by disliking where/what they are... & embracing their existance,  & battling them onfield,  at our arenas.

the Gold coast & GWS wyll survive, & they'll grow. even if slowly.

DL why do i have to like the new Soulless frachaises?

Hostility is right. I fkn hate them to the core. They Monopolised 5-6 years of the National Draft so they could have instant success.

They both exist for 1 reason

TV BROADCAST RIGHTS

If you wish to love them as part of your family, go right ahead.

But i hope the fail & fold in the years ahead.

A GW$ v Gold Coa$t $un$ GF at the MCG is worthless to me.

Raid all their players with a $mile just like that [censored] Gubby Allen did..

i am proud to hate Vlads Clubs...

O'Meara will end up at a big Melb club if he leaves GC. Hawthorn and Collingwood will throw everything at him. He's keen on Melb for the greater exposure and sponsorship benefits and a big club will help fulfil that more than a Dees, North or Saints. I don't think we'll see him in the red and the blue therefore.

I'm more optimistic about Prestia given his links to MFC but reckon it will depend on GC's 2016 season. If they go well, he stays. Not so well, he'll look to leave. I was excited about all the Prestia talk during last year's trade period but pretty keen to see how his knee holds up first. Don't get my wrong, I rate him big time (watched him a lot living in Qld) but I'd want to be assured of his long term fitness before we throw the kitchen sink at him.

Thats very narrow minded thinking WYL. Australian Football needs footy in the nonfootball states to prosper and if the expansion clubs fail then the AFLs fortunes will suffer.

Soccer will be the number one code in Australia within 40 years. ( Government immigration and population growth policy will ensure that will be the case).  Theres nothing that can prevent that now but we need the AFL to at least be number 2. for that to be the case, the expansion clubs must succeed. If footy fails in the northern states then we will be left with a Victorian league with ABC coverage.

We can't stop soccer taking over but we can hold off rugby and league - we need the north to prosper though. Put your personal resentment aside and think of the greater good. Think of the future generations of footy fans .

What you say maybe correct Munga but that doesn't mean i must embrace those clubs.

Let's see if they sink or swim?

They'll swim, SWYL. for one of the very reasons you hate them - the AFL will simply continue to pour money into them.

I am tempted to say the GenY's are a very sensitive bunch but in the interest of D'Land harmony I will resist and refrain from making comment in future :)

SWYL... you do not have to do anything at all your heart/head dictates you don't want to. Healthy tribalism is good for AFL footy, & its absence has hurt the game. we can build it against them with healthy rivalry. & shared interests. ..... but holding your breath & being a mad & an angry ant isn't helping anybody, least of all you swyl. its not them who hurt us its ourselves swyl... we keep shooting ourselves in the feet. Have done so throughout our existence. we can't blame others for the things we allow to hurt us.

Well to be honest, the only thing I can be confident of, is it's only two clubs in the mix, GC and us.

We all know of his family connections to the MFC, but that of itself won't determine where he plays.

If he is happy where he is and if the attractive girl I saw him with at a GC restuarant, is his girlfriend and is a Queensland girl and if he thinks the GC have a bright future, he would probably stay.

If she is a Melbourne girl and he misses his family and he wants to play for the team he grew up supporting, we will probably get him.

I am just interested in the pick we gave GC in our swap picks deal and if that means something.

All that said, he is not as vital to us now as he might have been a couple of years ago. We have some good mids and he is another in the small variety and we may prefer the Brayshaw, Tyson, VDB variety. He will also not be cheap and suffered a serious injury.

I will not lose any sleep if he re signs with GC. We may have the money earmarked for elsewhere. We have a bloke up forward most of us would like secured for the next 8-10 years if possible. That is a far higher priority than an injured, expensive, small mid.
