Training - Monday 9th November, 2015

Petracca running, jumping and playing kick to kick is football porn

While it's a training report, I just read that Toumpas struggled in to 6th place in the Port time trial.

Was one of our better runners, yet he struggled in the 1st to 4th year players group at a different club.

Does this mean we still have a long way to go? If so, I'm off to the confessional thread.

I for one wouldn't give a Continental if he finished 6th 16th or 160th!!! he is now not at our club! Let Port worry about his dodgy hips, slow pace and questionable endeavour!

NEXT!

Bottom line is that everyone is there and training. That's a great, positive start to pre-season. Let's hope it stays that way.

Hogan, who never looked all that keen on training, has gone over to kick to kick with Track.

And Brayshaw who's come from who knows where has walked over as well.

So buggered if I know what's happening on the main oval.

Gus has given a high 5 and is taking his backpack back to Aami. Need Saty to grab him

Any sign of Trengove? I know he isn't 1-4 year but you would think he would be keen as punch right now

Gee, talk about burying the lead! Is Saty there? That's the biggest news to come out of training this pre-season so far!

Handball drills at one end.

Kick and spread at the other.

Quite breezy here.

Terlich 0-3 hit targets

Some things will never change.

Jhk, Oscar, King and whites kicking stood out in a group that included Terlich, Frost , T mc, and Hunt

Bugg is an ok kick but he's a bit clunky for a left footer

Running was solid. But Frost, Kennedy and King have work to do

It is important that our footballers be fit, but looking at who in the past has done well in the 3 km time trials and also looking at the "elite" runners at other clubs ( seeing their results) I have come to the conclusion that unless you need to run quickly for 3km to pick up a ball during a game ( to my knowledge rarely happens) , then the trials are only a good benchmark of where a player is at ( and should be) compared to his previous endeavors - as opposed to beating other players. Finishing in the top 6 doesn't make you a footballer.

I know King has a bit of work to do on his fitness, but is he tagging on to the back group now. Previous years he's been way off the mark. Improvement would be good to see.

Hogan running laps with one of the fitness staff.

I'm thinking geez this guy must be fit.

Of course it's Crossy!

Remember noticing one of the fitness staff a few years ago and thinking.

"Geez... this fella looks like he can play."

Closer inspection revealed it to be Scott West.

you were not wrong

A - McDonald, Viney, Bugg, M Jones, Stretch, Jkh, White, Smith

B- ANB, Harnes, Tyson, Vanders, Hunt, Salem

C - Oscar, Garland, Terlich. Kent, Kennedy, Moncrieff, King, Frost, Keilty

Groups running from half forward around the boundary to the goal square then up to the other end.

1 group goes. Tags in the other groups who then goes back the other way and so on.

So it's 300m or so running followed by rest whilst the other groups go one at a time

7 v 4 inside 50.

Now 7 v 4 up and down a wing

Sounds like some of our mismatches when we play good teams like Hawthorn or Eagles. 7 of them, 4 of us. :-((((

The McDonalds are smashing their respective groups. Kent and Viney chasing. The B group is even. All look fit. Tyson and Harmes strong

King is having a good battle trying to hang on to Keilty. But overall I'd say that's good for him.

Smith starting well in the top group but is probably now contemplating going back to basketball. Good effort by him though

The b team are by far the most vocal and are staying together. I like them

King moves up to 2nd last.

Poor Joel smith is cooked in the first group but they are getting around him

How's Kennedy looking?

middle of the 3rd group and he's short.

Too early to judge any kind of skill or speed yet alone footballing ability.

Running time. Split in to 2 groups.

Hogan drops to last, 2 laps later he's near the front. He's in the a group.

Kent working hard to lead the B group, super stuff. Oscar and Tyson on his trail.

Vanders and Jhk take over the a group. No Tommy Mc in this. So they're the best we've got out there

Kents hit the wall.

Ben Kennedy is a long way back in the b group. Keilty, Frost then Max King behind him

Very happy to read your line about Kent. His hammy was a shocker so to read that he is up and about is great news so early in the season.

Thanks for the reports GRRM.
