A bit in jest there maybe adc!

Not sure of the purpose of the group flagellation when the target is blissfully unaware...Saty hasn't logged on since June!

Maybe it is easy for posters to pot someone who can't answer back. That's not very macho and can't say I care much for that type.

Methinks the comments say more about the posters than they say about Saty alias 'The Devil Inside'.

Lol! Really? This is the Internet after all...

Yes in jest. But could be the group flagellation target for satisfaction purposes ATM in these slow times. Is he also posting as "Devil in the Detail" or is this someone else? I did think he was "The Devil Inside" too. Edited by america de cali

Not sure about 'Devil in the Detail' but he did post as 'The Devil Inside' last season...that in itself is a mystery as there may have been an imposter 'The Devil Inside' lurking during the trade period...only Saty's a/c shows up on the member list. It couldn't have been the real Saty as his style was totally different!

The sarcasm and blatant rudeness you see on here from some posters is completely unnecessary and is what leads to many threads devolving into sh!tfights.

You can't be a complete ar$ehole in the way you critique someone's else's opinion, and then turn around to claim that strictly speaking, you didn't insult them personally. Belittling someone's opinion in an overtly rude way is insulting. If they fire a personal insult back at you, you don't have any right to call foul. You shouldn't have been an ar$ehole in the first place.

Keep the humour, but a little diplomacy and class wouldn't go astray. Remember you are talking to another Melbourne supporter. They aren't the enemy.

A good rule of thumb that may be useful for those who struggle to avoid insulting others ;

When youre posting on here, imagine that you are standing face to face with that person at the pub. Would you speak to that person face to face like that?

I would imagine there would be a lot of broken jaws and cracked skulls if some of the people on here spoke to others in the real world like they do on here.

False bravado afforded to you by an Internet forum is weak sh*t.

Saty was in the know about Salems breakfast and Trengoves puzzles but he never told me anything about Jack Watts' attack on the man.

The purpose is to stop posters from re-writing history. Some posters seem to remember Saty as an innocent injured puppy that was mistreated and abused despite never having bitten anyone. He opened himself up to criticism with the way that he interacted with others, and I have no qualms about reminding others of this.

Like I said, I appreciated the effort he made to get to most trainings and report on them, however I couldn't stand the constant sniping and condescending responses to posters that had different views than his own.

Basically agree.

I'm happy for him in that he finally found something to fill his time and while I didn't find his training reports that useful, I can understand why others may have felt that they were.

The bloke is like the Jigsaw Killer from Saw. He met his demise on this site a long time ago yet his influence and legacy live on in this thread. Perhaps like Jigsaw he has a hidden network of followers that are eager to become his one true apprentice?

With that being said, I'm not sure there is much more that can be said about him and any further conversation about his legacy should cease. I agree that some people's memory is lacking about who Saty really was but I don't think anyone can or should try to change that. It would just start up a s***fight that will achieve nothing.

The only aspect of Satyricon's training reports that had any merit was when he outlined who was in the main group, who was walking laps and who was in modified training. That's it. Everything else was cringeworthy.

Such as him saying to vandenBerg after he missed a goal on the run, "you took one too many bounces", or telling Salem that he "trained about as well as his soccer team" that had just lost. He reckons, "Tyson asked me how I played against Freo. I told him". It was the pits. In any other workplace they would have got a restraining order. The players must have thrown a party when they heard he'd landed a job. Mind you, if he spent less time accosting players and more time looking for one he wouldn't have had to spend his life blaming Abbott.

In one of Joeboy's preseason "3 word" threads he lambasted the "noisy minority" for not having Grimes, McKenzie and Bail in their best 22. In March he put out his own best 22 and left out Viney, because he'd had a poor preseason. Naturally, the opposite was true. Yet idolaters hung on his every word. They kept asking him about selection and game plans. It would be laughable if it wasn't true.

I just hope the players can rock up on Monday free from his ineluctable presence.

Weird how Jack Trengove had to get his own scooter just to keep up with his best mate.

A unique friendship developed through scooter talk.

Who would think a 21 year old and an old grey beard would strike up such a unique bond?

And the closeness that Salem and Saty enjoyed as they bonded over the EPL was heart warming.

When Saty pitched a tent in JTs front lawn I thought the police might have to seperate them but it worked out well.

There is nothing wrong with following a football team-really ,really closely.

Some people stalk deer ,some bird watch. Some go to every training and physio session there is.

Completely normal behaviour.

Some of the posters here are starting to sound a lot like the person they're complaining about with their sniping and stalking of the man himself...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
