I really hope they keep michie

On the one hand I agree with you bin, but on the other, a decision not to renew his contract would indicate to me that our Footy Dept. has confidence that it can improve our list by cutting him free and replacing him with someone new. I'll stick fat with the Footy Dept. on that one.

Can they rookie Mitchie?

They can. But you'd of thought they'd do that with Hunt before Michie.

Who was the imbecile that gave Terlich a 3-year deal? Extremely poor foresight.

Terlich has never had a 3year contract.

He had his initial two year contract for 2013/14 where he came 3rd in the Bluey in 2013 and played 14 games in 2014. Then received a two year contract for 2015/16 at the end of 2014.

I agree he should have only got a one year extension, but the constant talk of him ever receiving 3 years is simply misinformed.

So how come he's contracted for next year?

Terlich signed a 2 year contract at the end of 2014

All the footy love to this bloke! I love the way he goes about his footy! Well done. He will play at least 18 games next season. A real competitor.

Wait so when will Vandenberg be upgraded? Or has he already?

Already promoted.

Both vandenBerg and Harmes have been upgraded and will be officially placed on the club's primary list on Friday.

We await a decision on a contract renewal for Viv Michie which must be done by the end of this week if he's to remain.

I think that Michie is gone, as if he were to be re-signed it would likely have been announced at the same time as Harmes/Hunt.

If Terlich were to be paid out, wouldn't he have to agree to it?

When Evans was paid out of his contract Roosy said he was surprised to see Barry leave, but wasn't surprised to see Evans give it away after being offered a rookie contract. Evans was apparently content to walk away from professional football. What if Terlich wants to stick around?

Hunt has just signed a contract.

'They would have done that' - To be more accurate.

Why would you delist Michie and re-rookie him when he's just played 11 games for us this year when we could have done the exact same thing with Hunt who's yet to debut?

Point I'm trying to make is, if the plan was to delist someone and re-rookie them, you'd of thought that would be done with Hunt rather then Michie.

We could always do it with Terlich? Delist and re-rookie so we're still honouring his contract. Believe we did this with Juice and Meesen a few years back when they were still in contract but we needed senior list spots?

Well then we have to honour his contract

But he might be happy to get paid out and get on with his life. He can get a paid gig at a local league too.

The club will obviously tell him that they have no intention of giving his senior games next year. Then it is up to him how he wants to proceed.

It's a delicate situation and it needs to be handled gracefully or it will put a lot of our players off side. You can't just dishonour contracts when it suits you. It has to be done with both parties mutually agreeing to the decision.

Not sure what you're basing this on? His disposal and decision making at Casey and the seniors has been good. He's not an elite kick, but very few are.

..in fact only the elite are, by definition.

Good call to promote Harmes. He has the competitive edge.

Hunt is an absolute punt. He has pace BUT gets it 7-8 times a game in the VFL. Highly speculative. Rookie place was best considering last 2 years.

Must keep Michie. He put together 3-4 good games in late 2015. I have him on the wing in Round 1 2016 if he has a good preseason.

It is good to see midfielder Harmes promoted.Hunt will be an asset if he can overcome ongoing injuries. The Dees will probably de-list one or two players. In the kiddie draft we must get players that are ready to play seniors next year and are capable of putting pressure on

Watts and Dawes. One of our weakest is the lack of a back up ruckmam. Mason Redman would be a good late round pick up,he is a small mid.If the rumour is correct re Prestia for next year perhaps we have enough mids.

No doubt Terlich may well harbour the desire to stick around but let's be realistic for a moment. As a listed player with his age and experience, he failed to get a senior gig once this year while others around him who have subsequently been delisted managed to get game time. With the list expected to be stronger in 2016, I can't see any of the coaches reassuring him about his prospects of playing anywhere other than in the VFL if he remains.

I know there is an argument for not breaking written agreements and avoiding the stigma of a club that dismisses its loyal servants summarily but negotiating the early termination of inconvenient contracts is part and parcel of commercial life (and how often are we told these days that football's a business?). I'm of the opinion that in all probability, negotiations are going on that will result in a mutually acceptable payout of Dean Terlich's contract which will be announced at or before the next list lodgement date. Viv Michie might also be a casualty as well.

In the end, the club will have pick 50 restored and it wouldn't surprise if it kept another pick to pass on and perhaps even go into the season with five rookies (one of who might be a father/son). Sometimes, funny things happen behind the scenes at this time of year.

No dean is a good vfl player, it's a good idea have a strong Casey to develop to young players in a strong side, anyway the draft is sallow what's the point in pick a kid outside the top 40 you have to keep him for 2season, only need to give dean 1 more season, unless there are any delisted free agents the club wants.

I read every Casey player review last year and I can't remember many flattering reports about Terlichs play. Seems to be a very ordinary player even at VFL level.

Can't understand him still being around.
