Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thanks DN9, I didn't read carefully enough.... it does say the following at the end of the Canberra Times article though, so who knows(?)...

"The Greater Western Sydney academy product has already spoken to a handful of AFL clubs including Adelaide, Fremantle and Melbourne, who all travelled to Canberra to interview him.

"If the Giants want him, they'd have to upgrade him to match other bids," Sheehan said. "It's just a wait-and-see approach for him now."

Kevin Sheehan's comments to a Canberra reporter:

"He's been impressive right throughout the year. He's a boy that injury interrupted last year and ... he's got his body right and he's very impressive," he said.

"He's a lovely, rangy-sized kid, about 192 [centimetres tall], but that ability to get off his man with a burst of speed, presents really well, got lovely soft hands. He's one that is capable of following Jack Steele and being a draftee at the end of the year. He's your best prospect on what he's shown this year, he's a genuine prospect."

GWS might not take him, sounds very interesting!

Our "A Grader" needs to be developed from within. Poaching one would come at a huge cost both salary cap and draft pick wise, and compromise our future.

We need to develop at least a couple of our young group into top 20-25 players in the comp over the next year or two.

Genuine question, but is there a premiership team in the last 10 years who has built a team around a big price recruit, like a Judd? I can't think of any.

10000000000% agree with this.

Saints land Carlisle, that is massive. Great deal for St Kilda, they held off on pick 5 (as a straight swap), didn't rush, now they have Carlise and pick 14. Great trading.

Pretty sure essendon come out even more winners then the saints mate.

Has Sheehan ever said a bad word about a kid coming through the system?

Yeah, fair call. They get their pick 5 anyway. St Kilda on the other hand, while they lose pick 5, they get back Carlisle and 14. That is better than just handing over pick 5.

On face value you would say Sydney are the massive losers in this trade

But as they only care about points for their academy selections they come out alright

A win-win-win. Well done to all three clubs

So are Essendon going to package together Picks 4 and 5 to try and land Pick 8 from GWS? That's what everyone is trying to do... right?

Be interesting to see who they take at 4 & 5. Reckon Weideman could definitely feature as they'll want help for Daniher. Could leave Curnow for us if they take Parish as well.

I'd be really happy with that.

I am led to believe the Curnows are actually Melbourne supporters?

Carlton...because of Ed.

Curnow will get to Essendon at 4 or 5. I think we should be hell-bent on upgrading from 6 for either Parish or Curnow...both very special players that wont be around at 6...draft really tapers off.

Just being said on Twitter:

We gain Picks 3 and 10 from GC for this years pick 6 and a future first rounder.

Source - Brett Anderson

We will also swap picks 29 and 43 as well, apparently, but the above deal is the crux of it.

Welcome to the MFC Darcy Parish!

Edit - it's all over Twitter now from all the journos.

Surely this can't be true.....I thought Mahoney was meant to be a dud. There's no possible way he could work such a deal, surely........

However, in saying this, we must clearly rank two players quite highly this year given I thought next years draft crop was meant to be stronger.

Seriously, that's just plain dumb. 2016 is supposedly a much stronger draft, we are currently 15th or 16th in premiership betting, and we're prepared to risk giving up a top four pick. Is Parish really that good?

Potentially, IN picks 3, 10 and 43 in a weak draft; OUT pick 4 in a strong draft, 6 and 29 in a weak draft. How is that possibly a win for us?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
