I can't help but feel that Howe is capable of so much more than he delivered this year. Whether that is from lack of effort from his part, opponents limiting his influence, or uncertainty around his future, or all three, I don't know. He was clearly down on his 2014 form, irrespective of his B&F finish. He has the tools be a seriously good player, but I'm not sure that he has the desire to be one.

Those fuclers at GWS threw a hand grenade last year with the late offer and its messed with his head. Word is his manger has been surprised by the lack of interest in paying him big bucks. May stay at the Dees by default altho I think Roos would be keen to shift as he has some currency.

Howe the shine can fade !!

Here’s a list of things Jeremy Howe is:

Not as valuable as he thinks he is. I have loved the screamers, but I also used to love watching Sam Blease run.

He can do more than do a Capper. He can take a contested mark and as a reasonable shot for goal. Unlike others on our list I think he would be a better player at a stronger club.

Wasn't his best year effort wise and yes he can go. If for some reason he stays he must play permanent forward.

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet but Mark Stevens said on Gameday that Howe is basically gone, and pretty much on his way to collingwood.

If that was the case what would people want in return? Seedsmans? Freeman, Kennedy or maybe just a 2nd round pick.

I, for one, hope that he stays. I acknowledge that he can appear lazy but he is not one-dimensional. He is the best high mark in the competition. His high marking is unsurpassed and his hands are the stickiest of any player at the club. He is obviously not going to outbody some of the bigger backs but he is a very good contested mark for his size.

I called it a couple of years ago that he had become "the complete footballer". I was wrong. There are many things he needs to add to his game, but if you look a him as a forward flanker he stacks up pretty well. He has obvious marking skills and takes many that no other player can, from seemingly hopeless positions. He is as good a set shot at goal as we have in the team. His kicking is textbook and can slot them from very tight angles and reasonable distances. He has tremendous natural skill and mobility.

On the other hand, he needs to work harder on his intensity and defensive pressure and look for ways to benefit the team with one-percenters. Like Watts, Howe is classy icing on the cake that could look way better in a good team. If he applied himself he could be as influential as Breust or Gunston.

He'll be a permanent forward at his next home, and he'll be a better player for it. He was not and never will be a defender.

Depends on what the Pies offer. Do they get a second rounder for Freeman, could we get that. There are a number of quality talls in this draft and as we know talls unless an absolute standout are overlooked. There will be a couple that are set to go in the second round. Obviously depends on who we pick up during the trade period. What I do find amusing is the whole it's a "shallow draft", over half the people using the term honestly wouldn't have a clue. Melbourne knows better than anyone that high picks don't always turn into capable players.

Exactly. Regardless of whether Howe wants to go or not we have to play hard ball. He is an asset that is at the prime age.

I would play him as a half forward happily.

I still expect over the next couple of days he will ask to be traded to Fremantle. He is exactly the type of Player Fremantle needs and I will take pick 16 and there second round pick off them for Howe and our second round pick.

We've already got a good young core of mids. I say any trade for Howe should be for a player who can help us straight away.

I'd be very keen on Jackson Ramsay from the Filth. Tough as nails Half Back Flanker with scope to become a midfielder. Great kick of the ball and good pace. The filth wont want to trade him and he's contracted, but I'd be saying if you want Howe you need to cough up!

Played the first 5 games this year and was going along great until he got struck down with injury. Fits our needs nicely, although if we got him our needs for Tom Bugg wouldn't be as great.

I love convoluted ironies: how good would us getting a pick from the Pies, thereby picking up Weideman who turns out to be an absolute star and singlehandedly wins us a GF vs Collingwood!! Dream on.
