Where's Dom Tyson?

Not to sure what to make of Dom's year, and he kind of disappeared with a ??? injury...

Thoughts?

Had a tough year with injuries and form but a promising long term midfielder.

He is still only 22 and even playing injured the majority of the year he averaged 21.7 disposals and 4.3 tackles per game.

I expect him to have a big year next season and push up to average 25 touches per game.

His numbers were still good and finished high in a lot of categries, just lacked impact and didnt kick many goals and I think that was his due to his knee

Didn't like his year. Not sure what injuries he had, but looked slow by hand and foot.

Yeah did seem like he got that knee very early and had to push through for most of the year, tough ask for the young fella and I reckon he acquitted himself well!

He was okay. Good in patches, never terrible. Obviously seemed dogged by injury. I actually forgot about him for a bit there.

Gee whiz. Tyson, Petracca, Brayshaw, Viney. If that isn't one of if not the best young midfield core in the league, I don't know what is.

If we can't make the finals in one of the next two years with this crop, this club is unfixable.

Injury affected, he had such a great 2014 I think everyone expected him to go onwards and upwards with it but clearly he didn't get a clean run at it this year.

I think he needs to have a clean pre-season and hopefully we'll be able to chalk this year up to bad luck.

+ vandenBerg, Trengove, Salem, Kent, ANB, Stretch and Hunt.

Yes. Please.

Hugely disappointing year from Tyson, considering how good he looked last year, many of us thought he might step up to an elite level this year

Getting very very sick of seeing our players fail to take the next step

Was definitely injured. Many, many times he'd pull up from a mark, tackle or turn grimacing in pain.

Played through for the most part, but was clearly hampered.

Probably on a plane headed overseas somewhere for end of season trip ?

He was injured all year with a knee injury mate settle down.. jeez..

He has just hit the 50 game mark. He will bounce back strongly next year.

He tried to do too much at times and got caught often.

Once he got back to using the ball quickly he looked good again even tho he looked well underdone. Hope he gets a injury free year this coming season.

Can we just let him develop for a bit? He's only played 50 games. Do you seriously expect him to be elite already? He will get there in time.

Was just starting to regather his form I thought before the hammy issues.

Needs a big preseason to get his running up to the elite level. If he does that then his form will go with it. We know he can find the ball. He's not great short kick but has penetration in his kicking and can kick a goal.

Jack Viney had a bit of a meh year last year before rebounding strongly. That's why you have a deep core of young players coming through together.

someone should tell him he's not Scott Pendlebury's seperated at birth twin and therefor does not possess "silky" skills or have an eternity to pass the ball on.

Yeah....someone should tell him that....

Go up to him and tell him yourself. I am sure he will take it all on board..

Tyson is another one they put in the rack to get fit for next year. Nothing to see here. He'll be back and firing in round 1.

In a nutshell.

That pass to Billy Stretch in the final term at Geelong to set up a goal I could have sworn was delivered by Pendles....

I think blaming injury alone is a bit naive. Clubs also figured Tyson out and have put more time into him after a great 2014. He is so one-sided. Has no right side at all. Clubs played on his left side and took that away and he was caught so many times trying to get back onto it.

It was interesting talking to a player that left the club last year. Said Tyson played well beyond himself in 2014. "He's just not that good" were his words.

I hope Tyson proves him wrong. I'd love a big pre-season focused on Tyson's running and becoming more comfortable with his right side.

Cool story bra, who was the player?

It hasn't hurt a lot of the Hawks players...

...as for him not being that good, his junior form says he is.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
