Brisbane was a team rejuvenated tonight. It's almost like they didn't have to prove they needed a priority pick anymore; did the AFL give them some bad news during the week?

As for Carlton and number 1 picks, well... Gibbs, Murphy, Kreuzer... what more can I say? Watts typifies it for us. Scully typifies it for GWS. It's not the panacea.

Are the umpires for WC v Saints Western Australia based or they just shite scared to pay free kicks on their merits?

Posted

Pretty sure most umpires for interstate matches are based in the state where the match is played.

Ta Lamashtu. I thought so. Just get the feeling that teams go over to WA four goals down.

You mean like beating Geelong at their home ground when they are celebrating one of their all-time favourite players' 300th game? :P

True but a bit different when 3 great players are leaving. Plus geelong just ran into a good melbourne team that day. I mean what were the chances?

Sydney have gotten away with absolute robbery by getting Heeney. He's a freak.

No wonder the AFL intervened this year if their new Academy crop is just as good.

Nic Nat having a fair game. Goals, marks, running, bouncing, killer ruck work.

I reckon that debate is well and truly resolved...

(see "Watt's going on" thread)

Edit to correct Watt's thread title

Free kicks 22-6, reckon that's more than 4 goals start..... They can't be fair dinkum.

Jesus, the scoreline is certainly reflective of the free kick count. Disgraceful.

Essendon pull an impressive win out of their ass as soon as pick 4 is locked up.

What a coincidence. Been saying it all along, they were underperforming for draft picks.

I prefer the explanation that they were just horse poo, myself. I don't want to give Bummers fans another excuse to be sanctimonious turds ("we were a lot better than we showed, we just wanted the picks...")

It's pretty funny that Collingwood vs Essendon got banished to the 4pm Sunday timeslot though, in the round where the AFL can schedule the games when and where they want. It's a rare treat to have both clubs fade in to irrelevance together in the same season.

And Carlton. If only we'd beaten them all...

Yep, pick 1, possibly pick 2, and Carlisle for free.

There's no way Essendon will be reasonable in their demands (likely pick 1).

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits. Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t
