Changes For Next Week

Featured Replies

The Dogs are playing a different game to almost everybody else with their play on at all cost style, which works really well at Etihad where the wind doesn't impact ball delivery as much.

Given we are playing against the tanking Blues, I'm hoping for a few changes, but I can't really see it happening.

Ins: Salem in if well enough. Tyson back if fit. White in to see how he goes. Fitzy in if Blues go tall.

Outs: Could be almost anyone really but without flu, I'd tip Jetta (inj), Neal-Bullen, Bail and possibly even Grimes (coach obviously doesn't rate him much).

Can't see Roosy being disloyal to Lumumba, Garland and other senior men this late in season.

Angus could be sub, but nothing gained by dropping him now. He may as well get used to a 22-game season.

It might be time for 'h' to start showing some loyalty to Roosy.

I wrote it half time after McDonald had a few blunders, see revised changes down the bottom.

Too many pots? Haha

Love regretting drunken posts..

Demonland should shut down to posters except admin while games are in progress lol

What?

He's played less than one sub-standard season under Roos. If he isn't dropped this week, there is something horribly wrong.

I wish I was drunk, just angry.

If Michie gets dropped after finally showing some promise at AFL level, I give up.

Won't be dropped now. His third full game in a row and whadda ya know, he's starting to find his feet.

Out: Bail, M Jones, Lumumba, Jetta (inj), Brayshaw (rest)

In: Salem, Tyson, Newton, Toumpas, Kennedy-Harris

From reports Toump was one of the best on the ground before he went off. If his injury isn't too serious I'd let him play. I have a feeling he could ski all over a team like Carlton who should allow time and space that other teams won't.

B: Garland Dunn Grimes

HB: Howe McDonald Salem

C: Toumpas Jones Vince

HF: Newton Dawes Watts

F: Garlett Hogan Kennedy-Harris

R: Gawn Tyson Viney

I: Cross, Neal-Bullen, Michie (Harmes)

If Lumumba plays, he owes the club to play out of his skin.

They have bigger balls.

Dear me Ethan! I trust you are trembling in anticipation of the slap you shall receive from dland's gatekeeper of morals (aka Stuie "the snitch") for being disrespectful.

A mate at work asked me who number 44 was, he said he finds it alright and has some speed but his disposal and decision making is the worst he has seen for a long time...

I had no response other than yeah

How does he get a game?

Me. Blank stare...

Salem is set to come through this weekend. Dom tyson has to pass a fitness test to be available this weekend and Nev Jetta has been cleared of any serious injury but is not certain to play this weekend. Will undergo more tests during the week.

And before Curry has a breakdown i got this from the MFC website.

Yeah but we need to field a side, Redleg :P

I’ve been critical of Harry’s output for a while now, yet still don’t want him out of the team. His harry is good but tackling and disposal are poor and the run-on is pure chaos. But it’s those negative attributes that I think could be turned into positives with a shift up forward to find some touch. His specific position can be Dawes’ feet.

Time to look to the immediate future (trade-week) and let those on the unknown fringes (obviously subjective) play out the season. Happy for White to have a taste at some stage as well.

Jetta/Tyson cotton-wooled with VdB’s in Bali. We’re playing for 13th. Tell the incomers they’re a lock for the last three barring injuries (and the Russian’s farewell) while managing the kids (Gus/Harmes/ANB/Stretch can swap in and out whenever) Sweeping changes not for the sake of punishment but for ‘team management’.

I still believe this a competitive team (with hopefully some extra incentive) and we don’t have a great deal of midfield depth to bolster the center anyway.

Would love to see Tyson, Salem and Newton in against Carlton.

Anything resembling a complete and dangerous midfield in red & blue will simply confuse any opponent and buy us some time while they adjust.

Add the shock of players who'd rather kick than just handball in a circle to teammates under the same amount of pressure... well, it'll be a wonder if the poor blues can cope.

I'm all for a curveball like that being thrown now with the addition of Dawes omitted to play McDonald as a forward/ruck

Most folk will know how I feel about Chris by now. But he will be here next season and needs time to develop (straight face). TMac isn't the second-ruck answer (nor Dawes). Fitz could be.

I would have mentioned that he was a last minute inclusion when our injury list went 8 deep

Cos that's precisely how he got a game

Yes, let the 27 year old who got a premiership 5 years ago develop. I acknowledge Dawes has improved in the past few weeks and lifted his work rate, I just don't think he fits in the puzzle with Hogan, as a traditional 2nd forward if there's better options as 2nd ruck. He received a lucky break to get back into the team in the first place with Hogan rested and Pedersen (who I think is a better fit in Dawes' role) injured.

We can't afford to go too big in the forward line, look at the final Q on Sunday when T-Mac was in the ruck...

Preaching to the converted JRS. I don't even acknowledge he's improved. But as a pragmatist you can imagine he will still be here round 1 next year. Let's work with and improve what we've got. As far as not affording to go too large in the front half next week, I've essentially given up.

That's some pretty serious hypocrisy yee defender of negativity and all that is morally upright.

Sadly that may be an improvement.

Thought he showed something and should keep his spot.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
