Just a point though RPFC I always thought that Teams win finals not necessarily just good players coincidentally with big heads

IMO the major reason we lost this game was once again our poor kicking.

For the umpteenth game this year we kicked ourselves out of it.

Poor field kicking contributed to a lot of turnovers.

Until we up the Kicking skill level of the group we will remain the bottom third of the competition.

Only one I disagree with is Thomas. Didn't earn a single one of those goals.

But Higgins was clearly BOG, Hogan was on fire, Cunnington had 30 touches and Goldy was his usual dominant self. Just because he wasn't in the above votes doesn't mean Dawes didn't have a great game too.

I haven't yet seen the game - but would "resting" Gawn at FF whilst Dawes was rucking at least have stretched them a bit? Would he have been able at east to raise a 20 metre gallop to a contest?

If the interchanges are reduced as much as some say (40 a game?) a ruckman may well have to "rest" up forward, as may some of the mids of course.

Up forward wasn't the problem so much as down back in the first quarter when brown and petrie had their way, but upon reflection, that was more a problem with how easy they were walking it out of the middle in that first quarter.

They were fired up and we were asleep. This was an important game for them. They know we can be an easy knockout. At least this time we got up and made a decent fight of it. It was good to see that we at least stood up to a team that had more to lose than we did for a change. Playing catch up footy finally wore us out.

Its been a problem for along time, failing to be ready emotionally and physically for games

Its at the heart of the poor culture and we continually forgive them. Oh for a Selwood who has nothing to prove comes out for his 200th and makes a statement

Its unfortunate that we dont have people who have total committment to their craft like Joel

Hoges maybe the one we do have in the future I hope the prevailing team weakness doesnt weaken him

Ask Joel where he was when we played them last? We just ain't good enough or strong enough to dominate better sides that want to win more than us yet. I am pleased we haven't capitulated like we used to when we get ambushed.

He was our second best player, but I'm not unhappy to put him as the 6th best on the ground. Though I'd say he was definitely better than Thomas.

I'll put your mind at ease.

I snuck down to the rooms before the game in the disguise of a trainer. The boys gave me a few weird looks but I told them I had been helping out at Tami Roos' meditation sessions and that quickly shut them up.

Anyway after making sure Bernie Vince was well hydrated and trying to 'trick' Jesse Hogan into signing a new contract under the guise of it being a release form for photos Saty took of him a few weeks ago (he didn't bite) I saw both Tom McDonald and Lynden Dunn head to the toilets at the same time. Intrigued I noticed that, as they went to separate stalls, there was some tension in the air. I pretended to use the urinal and as I did so I proceeded to hear them square off in what can only be described as a 'smelly log' contest.

Once it was finished they both emerged from the stalls and Dunn acknowledged that, this week, Tommy Mac's smelly logs were the 'smelliest' and that he would play a bit below par so that Tommy Mac can look better this week.

Happy with what I had found out I left.

We should have played Jamar.

For one he deserves a farewell game. Not to mention that North went tall on a dry day and Gawn isn't fit enough to go with Goldstein all day. Was a costly mistake IMHO.

Disagree. Jamar would not have been able to spread with Goldy. We already looked slow across the ground in general and another would have meant even less defensive run through the middle. Our match ups looked fine for 2 quarters, this was about intent in the first quarter and poor defensive positioning not team selection.

Is this just a Demonland rumour or something more? If it is in fact true, I would suggest the club acknowledge it formally as you could well argue it cost us a match this week.
