Round 19 (Non MFC Games)

Did anyone hear Eddie on the Pre-game today with Caroline Wilson....Respect to the Prez of another club...But underneath all the jokes and Ha Ha's... the guy, like a lot of back room footy blokes (ie Fitzpatrick it seems) becomes a schoolyard bully in a suit when things get tough ...... I was embarrassed, and he's not even my President.

Ive not even checked but I presume Collingwood won.... thats good.. Let them think their close to contention ....And we'll barge past them into a GF before they've even noticed

brisbane tanking again

Ever so briefly Brisbane looked in grave danger of maybe winning: I am looking forward to the impartial integrity folk at AFL HQ starting the tanking enquiry. After all, their coach actually stated it publicly, not just some jovial assistant making an aside to a colleague.

I really hope Simon Goodwin is an attacking coach. The Dogs are awesome to watch and are now in the top 4 (for a few hours at least).

How about Bomber just teeing off on essendon. Not really holding back. Bit of a swipe at turdy saying he wanted this injection program.

Mark Thompson says Essendon is going nowhere

While he appears to have changed his tune a bit, what a soft co ck. "by law the AFL is responsible for a safe work place..." You weak bugger. Maybe look at the club who actually injected the players.

My tip is for west coast to lose tonight and next week and be in danger if dropping out of the top 4.

The dogs are a top 4 chance

Carlton will be happy...they are now in line for pick 2!

Carlton vs Lions next week, whoever loses gets pick 1!

If Carlton lose next week they will tank vs us to keep pick 1

Still going with that?

Frawley hasn't got any smarter at Hawthorn. In case you're surprised.

Thoroughly Melbournised, is my medical opinion. Incurable.

Pure Hawthorn arrogance thinking they could bring Frawley up to their level.

Just like Sam Blease at Geelong. Where's he at now, again?

Anyone interested, Michael Clark just retired.

For a minute there, I thought you meant Mitch. Both have done nothing for two years.

Anyone interested, Michael Clark just retired.

Heard the ch 9 commentator (Slats?) say that Michael Clark "failed to spring back to life after the death of Phil Hughes". Really? Could he have possibly chosen less insensitive words.

looking at the stats it's hard to see how the bears lost that one

I'm sure having the 1st pick in the draft at their disposal didn't having anything to do with it...

They get a nice little run from the umps down handbag town. Three of their goals from free kicks have been iffy at best.

WTF are Sydney doing,... if they lose they are out of the top 4 and if they win Geelong wont make the finals, at long last

Dont [censored] this up Swans

I’d rather Geelong make the Finals than Sydney make the Top Four.

brisbane tanking again

I left at three quarter time. That's a first for me. Horrible game, no atmosphere.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
