Toump is not a grunt inside type - but I've seen him put his body on the line multiple times.... Which for his size is a lot more then can be said for some others

If he can get his confidence up and stop making fumbly errors (which I hope come with experience) then I still think he'll be a handy player

Im not too sad he's in the magoos to get some confidence up... Hope he did ok in conditions which don't suit him

i'm not to disappointed that he's in the magoos either... I still feel he'll be a fine player for us, when he starts feeling much more at ease with the size differential of AFL.. reckon he's learning to do the physical on instructions, & we've seen improvement in the recent 6 weeks

he's got time on his hands & we have plenty of players to play & blood into the side. competition for spots is helpful to allow players to develop until ready, instead of being thrown to the wolves.

i feel relaxed that the current development team knows what they're doing.

To be honest I really struggled to see half the game when on the other side because of the rain light and I am an old F@rt with crap eyesight. Thought Jamar and Spencer, Michie, Hunt and Reilly were good. No 10 and 11 were handy as well. Mitch White did a couple of good things, did not notice King. Fitz was good down back and Terlich was pretty solid .The record did not have some players listed but I think Toump was 51 not much influence. Michie was off for most of the last qtr on the bench with an ankle in ice. Just a precaution I think. Don't think you can take much away from the game as it was just horrendous conditions. Basically a rolling maul most of the time.

The bacon rolls were very good but the coffee is bleeding awful. Lovely lady serving it though.

forget the coffee, get the hot chocolate,,,, with either hot roast roll, or egg & bacon... you make me feel like coming down for a game, & some fine food. bowt time they brought out some wedges with sour cream & sweet chilly sauce, for the cold weather games.

Just got home. You were lucky to miss. Conditions absolutely the worst I have seen in years. Casey handled them pretty well. The Borough only scored goals in the second qtr. The 3rd was the worst qtr of footy I have seen in 60 years. The rain was heavy and constant. Real olde tyme footy. Every qtr went more than 30 minutes because of the rolling stoppages.

Thanks Sammy. And thanks to all for the posts and radio relays.

And AngryAtCasy - surely you are now DomesticatedAtCasey. Next time we'll bring along a nice rug, hot water bottle and flask of hot chocolate so you can come to the game. ?

Cheers all. Nice to have a bit of a winning feeling after being gutted on Saturday.

That would be delightful bjDee!

I appologise to all for not heading down.

But don't worry, I promise I'll be back for their next match v Werribee on Sunday August 2 rain, hail or shine!

If it's a cold weather game, I suspect the last thing you might want would be a chilly sauce, sweet or not. A chilli sauce, however, might do the trick.

He is out of contract in October

Are you sure that time will be at the MFC?

not sure od, but it is time we took our time developing the kids instead of rushing them into lesser players. is watt i'm getting at.

we have failed to develop our kids properly, since possibly Jordan finished.

Next Saturday Casey play Carlton at Princess park.

I genuinely think that game will be far more fun than what takes place at the MCG on Sunday.

I intend to go to this game rather than Sunday.

There is a good chance of a win I look forward to seeing the team come Thursday.

Not sure d-l. Posted from iPhone where the DL smileys aren't available, so I used an Apple emoji - nasty purple little devil head (reminds me of a certain journo now I think of it). Now I'm back on a laptop I see it translates to something quite different.

Don't tell R&BB though - he'll be all over the chance to use another type of smiley.

I saw a beauty this afternoon, with a pitchfork... I'll try & retrace my thoughts & steps. If I remember, i'll grab it & bring it over.

PERFECT STORM by KC from Casey

The heavens opened up in the morning and the rain just kept pounding in buckets. It was so relentless, so heavy and so bitingly cold that they had to turn on the floodlights and even then it was difficult for the hardy spectators who made it to the ground and clearly even more difficult for the players.

In those conditions it was perhaps inevitable that Casey with 15 AFL listed players and by far the bigger-bodied of the two teams was going to triumph over Port Melbourne.

The two teams met earlier in the Round 5 game at North Port Oval that was closely fought for three quarters before the Borough prevailed but this time they were strangled by the strong tackling of the Scorpions. It was a low scoring affair early with Matt Jones the only goal scorer in the opening term but Port fought back late in the second quarter to get to within two points before goals to Viv Michie and Ed Morris just before half time gave the Scorps the break they needed.

The rain was torrential after half time and Port was completely shut down by strong tackling in the mud and the slush. The game was stop-start and shocking as a spectacle but Casey always had someone who could convert and, as a consequence, slid its way to a 49 point win that consolidated its position in the VFL top eighth.

The Casey rucks led by Mark Jamar and Jake Spencer relished the wet conditions and had the lion's share of the hit outs. They gave their on ball division an armchair ride with Viv Michie and Aidan Riley relishing the hard going. Jack Grimes put in a pleasing performance which included some strong tackling which set the scene for his possible return to AFL ranks in the near future.

Otherwise, there was not a great deal to take from the game other than that one could not accuse any of the players from taking a backward step when the going got tough.

In the end the perfect storm provided a perfect outcome for the home team.

Casey's next outing is to Visy Park on Saturday to take on the lowly Northern Blues, a game not to be taken lightly after the team succumbed to the equally poorly performed North Ballarat a few weeks ago.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
