MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 15

Chris dawes to kick 4 snags

I knew that record cold temperatures were on the way but I didn't know hell was freezing over

Interesting the players they have brought in haven't been in good form at all in the VFL.

Watched a bit of their game last week when they got flogged by Williamstown and must admit i thought to myself they are in big trouble for the next couple of years. They had no young kids who stood out to me.. atleast we have had the likes of ANB, Stretch, Harmes, Brayshaw who all played strong consistent VFL before given a go.

Going through the ins heres my opinion from last week.

Alex Brown: actually wasn't to bad, probably the only one who deserved a call up.

Patrick Ambrose: Struggled in the wet greasy conditions last week. Amazing they brought him in for similar if not worse conditions.

Ashby: another soft outsider who didn't adapt to conditions.. Can't see how he will do any better..

Laverde: Suppose Its the right time for them to blood their kids. Flashed i and out of the game. Outside player that will be interesting to see how he adapts to the conditions considering i personally thought he was another who struggled.

Edwards: was an emergency after literally not getting a kick against Hawthorn. Is very quick though but again will he adopt to conditions being another skinny outsider?

How will they come into the game knowing they haven't been putting in consistent effort in the twos and also trying to gain confidence out of it?

We must win! But footy can be a strange game at times..

Hocking and Melcham now out of the EFC team...

List management...

So we normally lose the winnable....right

I'm still nervous....

Relax. Garry Lyon has picked us to win by a margin of seven points! Shows he has a lot of confidence however personally I think getting picked by Gazza is a curse. I wish that he tipped against us like he normally does.

well daniel andrews picked essendung

does that help?

I hope we dominate from the first bounce. Get out there and play our own style of footy like we have in our wins. The type of game we play seems vastly different in our wins to losses.

The turnovers are an absolute killer.

RED ALERT by The Oracle

...

After team selection on Thursday night, two more Essendon players dropped out with injury - Heath Hocking (back) and Jake Melksham (hamstring). They were replaced by virtual unknowns in Jason Ashby and Shaun Edwards - even more bad news for the Demons who probably did zero homework on these blokes who will no doubt be the stars of the game

MATCH PREVIEW TO BE LOADED WHEN AVAILABLE

Yup ... it keeps getting worse with news of a Force 10 hurricane about to hit the state.

Nah you're right.

Conditions are going to be shocking. If we let them get 4-5 goals in front like we did the Saints, it's game over.

IMO the team that gets 4 goals up first, wins the game.

Hogan only getting back to Victoria now??

Given the forecast, the winner might be the team that gets 4 goals

I was worried last night about this game but now im convinced we will make a statement tomorrow. Thy will be put to the sword.

I call it the Tom Gillies cup.

One of JKH/Harmes/Stretch/ANB would be the sub. Leaning towards JKH for some reason.

vB will be safe. His hardness is need on the ground at all times.

Looking at Laverde's VFL stats. they have been far from flattering. He's only been listed in their top 6 players once, when they creamed the Cats. In that game he had 15 disposals. I reckon he's averaging less than 10 disposals a game.

He went at pick 20, just behind Langford at pick 17.

Has to come from the named 4 man bench

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
