GAME DAY at Alice Springs - Round 9

This game might suit Jesse Hogan if we can get the ball inside our 50 enough times, more fast paced and he might find himself 1 on 1 on more occasions than other weeks, we can only hope so.

You're spot on abut i50s. It all starts with clearances.

We've been going over stopping their run from defence and the right configuration for our defence (to Fitz or not to Fitz).

But it all starts and ends in the midfield.

Agree it starts in the midfield. Just hope it ends with our forwards kicking accurately.

Do this and we win methinks.

Confidence/Belief is growing nicely amongst this lot and the injection of Viney is another boost. We should give a good account of ourselves. 2 in a row beckons. My main concern is their experience. Have many more games on average (across their 22) than we do and we have a few more sub 50 gamers as well. If we win we will have pulled off a decent victory here.

Earliest game day thread in recent memory. Me thinks a few are a bit excited about this one.

Would be a massive chapter in our revival if we could snag 2 in a row for the first time since 2011, given we have 3 or 4 very winnable games in June and July.

Despite the recent success of Port, this is a very winnable game. We've had a pretty good idea of how to play them for a couple of years, they are in terrible form and a number of their better players are out. If we can get out to a good start it will shake their belief and we could very well take it away from them.

Tat being said, the folks over at Port are no doubt saying right now that this is a very winnable game and an opportunity to get their season back on track...

Bummer. Can't watch. Updates via the iPhone app, plus this Game Day thread are all I have to go on.

Luckily, I have a Masters Degree, and am thinking about a PhD, so all is well ...

I cant watch it either, so im glad you have a degree also...........

We have (or had - hope it's past tense!) the habit of losing the rare games that we go in as favourites. Lid firmly shut for now.

Given our history of not winning and not winning two in a row for many years has anyone tipped us to win?

I want to but my fingers and brain won't let me!

I really just have no confidence that we will win two in a row.

Happy to be wrong.

We ain't favourites Akum.

Last I saw we were $2.75 to Port $1.47

I picked Melbourne to win, go dees.

Today is the day we prove we're not a bottom 4 side and begin our giant killing accent.

We started the week at $4.40.

What happened?

Have they officially had any late withdrawals yet?

If for some reason you arent fired up for the game, just watch this

The time has come for us to put back to back wins together...

We shouldn't under estimate the confidence we bring into this game compared to the Power, makes a big difference.

Wow how to hijack a thread. Some of you do have some issues methinks

Any way, Will watch on Foxtel from the palatial movie room at Chez Fence!

got a feeling today is the day Jeffrey Garlett really gets hold of an opposition

I just got on Melbourne to win by over 15.5 points. Offering of $5.20 was too good to resist.

Garlett 2+ goals & dees to win @ $4.00 is enticing also

Good to see you're getting more "O" & less "B"!

Is there a legal way to watch online? Normally I get to a pub with foxtel but can't today.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
