Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

We need to keep Fitzy and Spencer, particularly with Jamar likely finishing up.

Mature tall depth is invaluable over 23 rounds (and hopefully a couple more weeks)

especially at the moment when rucks are expected to run all game, & get buffeted. the late thinking is to rest them,

For mine we keep Fitzy.

Tall, fast, can kick a goal, can play Ruck, forward or back. No star but he is a keeper.

We have plenty of others who can go before him like, Bail, Terlich, M. Jones, Jamar, McKenzie, Riley and maybe Michie. Howe could be traded and Garland could leave under FA. If they all went that is 9 changes.

at 24yrs 1mth, & a late developer who is 99Kgs & 200cms, who can run like the wind, he must be kept for further development; especially since we are only Now getting our teaching assistant coach roles filled by talented people.

.

& promote your No 2, to spell them. if one gets injures no depth is poor management.

What I would like to see happen, but obviously can't for logistical reasons, is for the MFC to be allowed to have an 'amnesty' of sorts. We should be exempt from the limit of players that can be turned over. We should once and for all interview each and every player to determine those that have some kind of issue with the club and don't really want to be there anymore. Every one of them should be put up for trade to find a mutually beneficial outcome, or delisted if none can be found, so that once and for all the supporters may have a chance of seeing a group take the field that seem to give a $ hit.

I would not exclude any player from the process. If our best young players don't like it at MFC they will soon be producung the apathetic, sooky performances that have become so prevalent and expected at the MFC. This would be their chance to speak up and fark off.

We would need to be granted more draft picks because from what we see there must be a large number who fit in the category of having some kind of problem with the MFC.

Brainstorming exercise.....................

If Fyfe was a Victorian (and he's not), would you consider Fyfe for Hogan plus 3rd round pick this Christmas.

The lure for Hogan to go home and awful supply will get to him eventually.

What would WC give up for him?

Gaff (23 y.o) & Shuey?

Gaff, Lamb and 1st round pick next year?

Hogan's price is high. If the inevitable will happen one day, might as well cash in big in the boom.

I don't hate the idea because this kind of ruthlessness isn't in Melbourne's DNA, but with the type of talent that Hogan is I'd like us to try and do everything we can to keep him.

It's time to just go to the draft and build an entire list around Hogan and Brayshaw. It's clear by now that the so-called "senior" players aren't up to scratch.

Look at what the Saints have built around Riewoldt and GWS around Cameron.

I really think we have the young core to go somewhere, the older heads are what concern me,

Brayshaw, Hogan, Viney, Tyson, Petracca, Neal-Bullen, Tmac, Gawn and co should make a decent core to take the club forward, but while the teams leaders are blokes like

Chris Dawes, Jeremy Howe, Colin Garland, Jack Grimes how can we really expect to move forward

I personally would be really keen to see

Dawes, Grimes, Toumpas, Howe, Garland all leave the club over the off season either via trade of Free agency.

if we could somehow get something in return that'd be great.

Agreed, mate. Happy to see all those mentioned depart.

We need to keep building our midfield. We're gonna need to pay for it. I'd offer Danger a front-loaded 5 year contract at $1.5mill. I'd also trade future picks to GWS for Treloar and offer him $800,000 at 7 years front-loaded. I'd then put an offer to Hogan mid next year of 10 years at $1.7mill a year. We have to be bold. All draft picks should be up for grabs and in a weak draft year, we should be targeting current AFL players. A graders only. Easier said than done.

Good to see Michie not on this list, there are many more to go before him.

I'd agree with most of these, including having no idea about White!

TMac I don't want to be traded, and I think Grimes and Garland won't be delisted. Grimes especially has shown today what he is capable of :)

I also would like to see Cross stay on, I think he is a ball-winner and he has potential, despite his age.

Think Roos had a pretty telling comment in his post-match today. It would seem the conservative delistings the club intended is off the cards now. Looks like another 1/4 list exodus this off-season after today's effort.

Seems pretty clear that Roos and his coaches had a certain tolerance for poor performances over the first year, but those credits have been exhausted now. Would like to see a tangible response instead of just hot air from Roos.

I just watched the presser. I must have missed that. I couldn't hear any of the questions. Did he mention list changes? It's possible there could be 10 or so, but we'd wanna be bringing in B graders at least, otherwise there's almost no point.

Roos: "You're looking at habits and patterns... clearly there's patterns we've identified. What's the result of that? It's fairly obvious what happens. Melbourne people are sick of the same excuses. They'd come and expect more from the first half."

On the scars of the past: "I don't really care what it is, anymore, to be honest. It's just about performance. We've got to improve our performance as a footy club, and while I was sympathetic to the club and where it's been, the coaching group has been here for long enough now that it's not about where we've been and more about where we're going."

So you're taking it to mean that there will be more changes than originally expected? Surely it hasn't surely since two weeks ago when Roos said there wouldn't be as many changes?

Not saying there shouldn't be lots of players shown the door though. We could probably lose anywhere between 8 and 10 players.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
