Interesting we have gone from 12 players injured around about round 4 through to round 16 or so when we dropped down to 6 injured for a short while, then it is now back to 9.

Biggest issue I feel is not just players out per se, but the lack of team stability. Even given the players available, the constant changes in personnel are not helping.

Doesn't help the players either. Fitzpatrick and Toumpas (OK, OK) have both been in and out of Casey - whatever they might become, neither we nor they are going to find out if they can't string a decent run of matches together.

Bing I have said earlier we have played at around 60% of our potential man power all year as many of the injured this year would be rated top 25 on our list. But I am not sure basic man power available explains some of our lame performances this year.

However if we had an injury free year in 2016 things could look up very quickly assuming the entire list undergoes psychotherapy pre season.

i believe lobotomies all round have been scheduled post season to avoid players over thinking. this should simplify their decision making by ensuring the first option is the only option

I think your timing might be wrong. I have a sneaking suspicion the lobotomies might have already occurred.

Does anyone have the faintest idea what the problem is with Frost's toe?

He has been 2 -3 weeks now for 4 months.

Do we have another Clark / Trengove problem here?

Well it is good dc that we are now realising it.

Perhaps we should review all our comments over the last two weeks that we think could possibly have de motivated the players and deleted them.

Would that help do you think?

Nah bull s-it.

If you are feeling negative take a look at Geelongs injury list, that will make you feel better.

Sam Blease Concussion 1 week

Josh Caddy Knee Test

Mitch Clark Calf TBC

Cameron Delaney Knee TBC

Mitch Duncan Calf Test

James Kelly Ankle Test

Lincoln McCarthy* Foot Indefinite

Jared Rivers Knee Season

Sorry to see Rivers on list but at least it is at Geelong

Why put a player on an injury list if they are "available"?

I've never understood this.

Because he was out injured this week but is now available.

I think it is so that payers don't just drop off the list and then everyone asks questions.

Then how come that has not been done with Frost.

He has disappeared from view. 2-3 weeks on one report then nothing.

Missing without a trace

I have thought Josh Caddy and Mitch Duncan are grossly overrated, especially Caddy. He looks like Tarzan and his impact and decision-making in big games is average.

Kelly is over the hill.

Lincoln who?

Rivers has been playing on one knee since his Melbourne days.

The only player that would genuinely impact them is Stanley, who with Blicavs, has become part of the new age unpredictable quick ruck set up of the AFL.

Our injury list is chalk and cheese. Petracca, Frost, Kent would give us so much of what we need.

Hey i didn't say the system was perfect!

But that extra information does allow us to differentiate between a player who leaves the list and is now available and a player like frost.

I just would have thought not being on the injury list means a player is not injured.

TGR I highlighted the MFC players on the list, that was my point. (3 exMFC all injured)

I agree with your analysis though.

Frost? Not injured, not playing, not eligible for VFL finals? I was looking forward to see how he would go this year, big and fast but injured for all but the first few games.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits.
