Pity that Sam Petrevski-Seton is not available this year, on my limited viewing he's just the type of player we could do with.

'Pennant', how does he look in the local comp, any downside to the kid.

Haven't looked at many of this years crop.

All I hope for is that we draft a mid who possesses both great foot skills and decision making skills and is really competitive.

Darcy Tucker could be that. Even if he is rated outside the top 10.

We all know how drafts go. Fyfe, Danger, Cyril, Parker, Neale,... All drafted outside the top 10. All great players.

Let's just continue to get the picks right.

Posted

Danger pick 10, Heppell pick 8, and both actually mids FYI...

I know Danger was 10. I should have said 10 +.

Forgive the Heppell one, forgot about that.

My point is that we really don't know. Twomey included.

It doesn't matter if he's played midfield or not, if he can win his own ball and has the right attributes he can be moved there like we've seen with many players. Who would have thought Bernie Vince would be a starting four midfielder with a hard contested edge to his game when he was first drafted?

I'm assuming this is Machsy? Sudden disappearance and then a Mach5 pops up and writes in such a similar manner.

Interesting listening to wietering talking about his toughest opponents..he put Collins right up the because of his strength ...

Posted

There aren't any this draft so what do we do?

Haven't had a good look at this years crop but from what I've seen I think Balic might have a pretty fair upside.

I'd try to take a tall & mid from the kids draft & try to bring in some more maturity at the same time. the kids can have a little time to develop under macca & platt... the mature

players can help short term.

ontop of this, I would rookie a few quickish running players with potential, for the longer term development... 3yr planning before expected senior games.

I think guru Bob once said, "players with long necks play shorter than they are". Or did I make that up?

you mean a bit like an ostrich or giraffe does MD? so we need the Tyrannosaurs Rex's of the draft?

Not going to happen but geez I wish could get our hands on jade Gresham somehow, the kid is a jet and the only reason he isn't higher in the draft is because of his height!!! Can play off half back as well. Will be the the next Gavin wanganeen he is a rubber man, wins his own ball, and has silky smooth skills!!

Some chance that Francis gets to us. Would be a pretty decent steal:

I think either Francis or Curnow will be a great addition. Would give us one of the biggest midfield in the coming years.

Brayshaw- 187cm 88kg

Petracca- 186cm 94kg

Tyson- 186cm 81kg

Vandenberg- 188cm 90kg

Watts- 196cm 88kg

Francis- 190cm 86kg

Curnow- 191cm 95kg

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
