It is interesting that posters are saying they have contacts who are telling them MCartin and Lever for 3.

One or both of these groups will be wrong. Is it possible the club is sending out some contradictory signals? If so I wouldn't know why.

Its all a game.

I'd say it's more likely that people are claiming to know things they don't.

Who did you have picked for us back in 2003 if not McLean and Sylvia?

I was comparing Brayshaw to Mclean, not commenting on Mclean's draft year of which was all-round a shocker and not a good example to use. Having said that, I would have taken them both and compared to what else was available at the top of the draft that year there production has been pretty decent.

Ok. Which players would you have drafted from 2004 to 2010 to produce us a premiership challenging team? Considering which picks we had at that time.

That's a pretty redundant question given the benefit of hindsight.

Yes. And even if we had of picked the other stars we overlooked, our player development was shite!

I'd say it's because the Dees are attempting to get a certain someone to drop into there lap.

To me that doesn't make sense, if the Saints had pick 1 and say 4 or 5 it would. They could take Pectracca and hope Paddy is still there for their second pick. We would then talk up Paddy. The Saints decision shouldn't be affected in any way by us.

No. I'm not.

I'm interested to know who you would have picked up.

OK - I'll get back to you with a list when I get a chance to write something up....On the condition that you can guarantee me that you are being honest by saying you are genuinely interested in who I would have picked. If you are more interested in trying to find faults in my previous statement about me being able to put together a better list then you are wasting my time and you can go off and try and be right with someone else. If you want me to be honest with you then you have to be honest with me also. So which is it?

It does make sense because a lot of team likes to weigh up their selections by garnering other teams interest in players. If the Saints are tossing up between Petracca & McCartin and then we hype McCartin up a bit and make it out that they're missing out on a star then that might sway them to pick him. Happens all the time.

Agreed. Every club is weighing up who to pick hoping they make the right decisions, every player is a potential risk, that they will continue to develop, dont have injuries or gain injuries that screws their careers, also there is going to be a lot of heated arguments over which positions need to be covered first. St Kilda will have supporters for taking the best mid or taking the best forward, up until a name is called out they like us will are not going to stop having those discussions. Also i wonder if some list managers are influenced on which players they cut from their list before the draft based on who they think maybe available to them.

Meltdown come on down! Played golf today with my mate and he has CATEGORICALLY said we will be taking LEVER (i did it in capitals for you who can't read so well!). So there you go!

Saints have pick 1, they are in a complete rebuild mode. They have to decide between two highly talented kids who just happen to play different positions. They are in need of both. As I mentioned before this in not a case of having picks 1 and 4 and hoping one of the players slides. If their decision is based on anything other than the research that their football department has done they should close their doors for good. Clubs have footy departments for a reason, all top kids have been tracked for years but all that goes out the window for a game of cat and mouse?

Step 1 - indentify your needs.

Step 2 - pick who best fills that need.

Step 3 - don't listen to the crap being peddled by other clubs.

Not if he is honest.

True. It'd be hard not to look at who has done what when making the selections I guess.

A future forward line of

Kent, McCartin, Howe

JKH, Hogan, Garlett

Doesn't sound too bad.

And in the short term with Dawes still in mix means that we become extremely hard to match up on !

Consider this for next year

Howe, Dawes, Watts

Hogan, Mc Cartin, Garlett

if I was an opposition coach, even though two haven't played yet, if they have even a smidgeon of impact Sheeit a few would take notice. If they hit their straps early,? Gees that's a Forward line with more than a touch of Potency!!

Bring it on!!

I feel like the Coyote chasing the Road Runner!....

I'm salivating!!

Highly likely as I guy I work with is close with mc cartin snr and he said saints were well into him early in the season but in recent time have cooled right off

Word direct from McCartin's coach at Grammar is that the dees will pick him.

Not the worst outcome, but I think there is the chance of a marginally better outcome.

Petracca and Brayshaw being the perfect yet unlikely one.

I still favour Lever, but you never know for certain how these things will pan out...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
