Highly doubt this has anything to do with testing results

I was a bit suspicious of Petracca when I saw the footage of him getting injured in the 3km time trial

it actually looked like he was faking the injury

maybe he was tanking to make the Saints skip him and get to the MFC ;)

Many posters on this thread sem to have not read the headr - it has been hijacked as a McCartin thread.

Posted this in the other draft thread, relevant here too:

.@sam_mcclure says McCartin to be #1 on Thurs ahead of Petracca as 'some of Petracca's testing hasn't been at the expectation of a #1 pick'

If thats the case please MFC dont let this one slip! And im getting pretty scared if could scare us off too!

Just the history of not taking Darling and Wines really has traumatized alot of us.

So I'm on 3AW Sports Today and its 6:40 - where is Petracca information!

I think, if genuine, it is personality based.

He's not the type of bloke you want to be a leader.

He has made comments about teammates finding him annoying.

Hyperactive like a diet-Jack Riewoldt or Heath Shaw.

He does seem to have a swagger about him, but by god, we need some of that.

tuned in

heard Dwayne Russells voice

Turned it off immediately

A great reminder why I never listen to the radio

Yeah - this is the worst radio station I have listened to. Why oh why didn't SEN have the news.

I think back to Glenn McGrath. He was a pest (annoying) and his teammates loved it. The boys love Gawney (even Dawes) and he is annoying.

There is not a key forward screaming in the U17 or U16 at the moment whereas there are some gun mids who are better than Petracca, Bradshaw, Heeney when they were 16 and 17. If the team can't split them, take the key forward this year and the gun mid next year.

We have another mid coming through for us next year in Jake Lovett, so if Brayshaw and Petracca come to us in this draft, Lovett next draft and the likes of Salem, Viney, Tyson and even Toumpas, surely that should alleviate our midfield woes.

Don't forget Stretch, Kent, Newton and Michie.

Can you please point out where anyone is suggesting anything other than him earning it?

by the very idea you suggest an unnatural impediment..i.e a wall

thankyou for the please btw ^_^

If we got Petracca and Brayshaw in this draft...i tell you what...i would...just...arrrrgggghhhhhhh

That is disturbing on so many levels

I think Petracca lacks polish and smarts for such a high pick. He also seems a bit too cocky. I don't know but I get a bit of the Sylvia's about this bloke.

FFS the kid is 18 and full of testosterone. Give him a break.

We don't need any more introverted shrinking violets.

Love his attitude when he said pick me and I won't let you down.

Any rough edges can be smoothed over. Show me anyone who is the full package at that age.

Nothing wrong with a young bloke having a bit of attitude. I like what we get from Hogan and Viney for example, but Petracca's just seems to come from a different place. In any case my main concern is that I feel he lacks the smarts and polish if such a high pick. But I realise I don't have all the information. It's just the vibe of it...

I believe that we will take McCartin but immediate impact ?

Please name the last key position footballer taken in the draft that had an immediate impact

(if you can name one then I will name you the other 98% that took until 21-22 of age at least before they had the immediate impact you speak of)

Well darling gets a mention for starters

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
