I think you were watching another game. Riley was useless as were all the dees except Viney and jamar. Did any if you actually go to the MCG today?

Jamar???

more importantly which game were you watching?

Mcintosh smashed jamar yesterday, to the point where mcintosh was almost BOG

I hope we have found a real hard nut inside player in Riley.

One of the few positives to come from yesterday's feeble game.

It will be interesting to chart his progress with a full pre-season behind him.

Viney and Riley were our only real standouts IMHO.

And he hasn't even done a full pre season yet! Very excited, watched him do it at Casey the week before, was good to see him replicate it in the big leagues against a big team.

My thoughts exactly. He replicated what he showed against the Tiges in VFL. We don't see many who can bring their same game when they step up the the big league. He's a keeper.

The good thing about Riley today the late brain fade aside was he was tough and clean in close and also appeared to have some speed out of congestion and hit targets. There is definitely a true mid to work with there.

The thing I like is that, despite being an inside midfielder, he has pace and power. He needs a tank to go with it, but that should improve with a preseason.

Yeah Jamar was awesome today, fourth best ruck man out there.

Mate if you watched the game, Jamar dominated the hit outs, but Geelong sharked off him all

So if someone disagrees with your assessment you insult them with children's puppet character references?

Is this the best you can say in defence of your feeble grasp of reality?

So if that happens you change tactics.

He was slaughtered around the ground by both Geelong rucks, shanked a easy shot on goal.

How is that then not a terrible game?

Jamar's hit outs never, ever go to Melbourne players. Most of the time he feebly waves his hand in the general direction of the ball so it falls at his feet. Our midfielders are always behind their opponents so inevitably the opposition take first possession.

so if you disagree with someone you indulge in personal attacks rather than putting forward a logical and reasoned argument?

Riley played so differently from his earlier games I'm wondering why. The only (admittedly poor) analogy I can come up with is that his earlier games were on partially flat batteries but Saturday's he was fully charged. There was much more zip and confidence in the way he played. He looked like a plodder previously.

Confidence in his body, his game and his fitness.

Should be good for us with a full preseason under his belt.

A different player on Saturday, must be running into some match fitness. Look forward to watching him over the next year.

Watch his highlight reel. He is was really hard at it/fierce at Adelaide but never got an even break with injury.

I am really looking forward to him after a full preseason.

At least Jamar showed some intensity and appeared to be genuinely trying hard which is more than can be said of the pathetic efforts of many others.

You did watch the game? some of your posts seem to indicate not, Jamar took 1 (ONE) mark, he was outpointed/outplayed....yes he tried

Would love to know Why? WHY this bloke who at least has a bloody dip and tries his guts out in the midfield was subbed today!

FWIW Tapscott was the one I thought should have gone!

Hnmmm would love to know the thought process behing this one?!

Only guess is he doesn't yet have the tank for 4 quarters - no preseason, broken leg. No one injured before 3/4 time, really tight close game need blokes who will make the distance. FWIW I agree he shouldn't have got the vest, don't know who I would have subbed out, but would have loved Kents attack on the footy much earlier in the game..... Like from the start!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
