Hi all,

Just a couple of things.

Reckon Dunn has become very valuable, and dare i say it, a player i trust now.. think he has been terrific and probably in our top 3 most consistent players this year.

Also beleive he is set to re-sign in coming days / week.

And Nathan Jones is on Talking Footy tonight. 7.30pm on 7 mate if you are looking for something to watch.

There are a lot of individual stories of the season so far, but the two main ones for me are Pedo and Dunn. His position in the backline is now cemented imo. Very happy for him.

To be fair Dunn has been good for a few years now. Unfortunately half this site had it in for him and it took him along time to be recognised for his improvement. We must resign him.

Less pointing and bad body language too, more calm words in our players ears before set shots etc...

Now that he's matured, found his spot, playing solid footy, I kinda miss the jumper punching, annoying [censored] that I hated, just a little bit.

Hopefully he makes a cameo when we're flogging someone.

I think you are being very very generous saying he has been good for a few years now. He has showed glimpses over a few years that he could be a good player and every now and then played a whole game where he was great. Still, they were few and far between.

I was sick of him and I wrote him off last year honestly. Put him in the 'flat track bully' category.

Glad he has proved me completely wrong and loving his work at the moment, has a fantastic leg on him.

Good boy

I don't. That guy had a habit of flinching.

Absolutely love the new Dunn.

it funny how views can be so different about players. I'm totally with gnf on dunn. Apart from Jones was our vest and most consistent last year. Was not as consistent the previous year but still good and prior to that has always been in our best 22. Doesn't miss games. Despite his reputation for misplaced aggression rarely been reported. Adapts to different roles. In our best 5 players. Oh yeah - would love to see him on the DL banner!

Roos has been the making of him, he was always capable of playing good football the simple fact is he didn't.

All the bravado and senseless aggression has disappeared and we now have a footballer instead. I said the other day that I feel completely safe if he is going for a mark or spoil whereas last year you would never know what he'd do.

I agree he is really good this year and solid in the past but he did give away stupid frees with "misplaced aggression" which he has eliminated from his game. He is a very mature player now.

I think he's also kicking better. Previously he kicked too high and therefore the ball took too long to land and was easy to spoil. Now he kicks faster and flatter and mostly hits targets. I suspect he's actually being coached properly for the first time and fixed up his personal deficiencies. Good on him. He's obviously worked hard and deserves the praise he's now getting.

that's true. Also the odd silly 50. Has improved this heaps and is now also showing some great leadership qualities which is exactly what you need from your senior players (and what we have so sorely missed)

In a very dark period Dunn was performing last year I thought and he has got better this year for sure. God we didn't have much going last year to pick out Dunn as the problem.

I think the beauty of Roos is that players lift for him, only the great coaches have that knack of getting the best out of a player and more.

True, DeeZee.

Strangely, for some reason, I find that I like Dunn better since that mo disappeared.

I saw a couple of Dunny's VFL games a few years ago and he just didn't seem to be interested, but last year when things were at their worst he seemed to decided to commit himself fully and he was one of our best. I'm sure Roos is getting even more from him, but he was already on the bandwagon.

have always been a fan of dunny a great kick , likes it tuff , some aggression , not shy , go dunny ure a beauty go for it , I s tuck up for dunny in the past as I did Pederson , and those that abused me for that , well you know what you can do , don't you , idiots, happy days

He's been great. I noticed his improvements last season, since then he has furthered his playing ability to become a very reliable player with the ball and a very handy defender. Now when ever dunney is near the ball I'm confident he will compete and compete and more often than not he can win. so often he is calm and composed under pressure in the last line of defence. He has become a great asset and a vital player at the MFC.

I also commend peterson on his efforts and turning his career around. Ive mentioned peterson recently, I don't think I need to go in to detail, you've all seen it. He's quickly becoming a handy target up forward as well as all around the ground.

Well done Cameron Pederson.

Go the dees!

his footy turnaround this & last year has been fantastic to see. I didn't think he had it in him after such a long time in red & blue. but the brain-fades seem to be almost gone & a drive & determination looks to have replaced them.

hopeful for this to continue, still guarded.

go for it Dunny

Dunne needs to be on the banner. Don't know who we would remove, but dunny deserves it.

They have created room on the right-hand-side in case you had not noticed [however the way we are starting to play, soon we will need a team picture!].

The thing roos did at Sydney with Leo Barry, Grundy, Richards, LRT is while they aren't the most fashionable they rarely lose one on one, this in my opinion is why the game style suits Dunn perfectly he is just playing to his massive strength

ahh i hard failed to notice that. Yeh, well hopefully we continue our progress! its been most enjoyable.

He's taken the positives of the good games he had over the last few years and worked hard to remove the negatives.

So we don't see much anymore of the fake aggression, the embarrassing attempts to rough up opponents, the finger pointing, the yelling without doing anything, or that stuff.

Football-wise, we aren't seeing those terrible up-and-under-look-at-me-I-can-kick-it-50 kicks anymore either.

Instead, we see a quiet determination, strength in the contests, smarter kicking (both short and long), and proper leadership.

Whether it was all internal or Roos/the coaches helped get it out of him, he's done a great job of bringing the positives out. Good on him.

Dunn was fantastic last year. Read back through this thread* and you'll a couple of us trying to convince you fellas but you wouldn't listen. Now you're all crediting Roosy, which is pretty unfair on Dunny himself I think. Yes, he's flourishing under Roos because the whole team is functioning as a unit, but he was well and truly committed (and playing well) long before Roosy took over.

* Machsy in particular will love that thread.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
