The Jack Viney bump that never was!

Featured Replies

We are appealing it!

A new era is born

shah why do they call him purple?

His nickname is The Purple Headed Warrior!

Couldn't be more appropriate.

This is the best tweet.. hahah

gleeson suggests Viney could have travelled back in time & punched his dad in the balls to ensure he was never born & unable to bump anyone

lol that is brilliant

Haha. Dumbo are you a mind reader or maybe a flat mate of Jack's? If not, then you have no idea what he will do post this verdict. And neither do i.

This could change him as you say or, alternatively, it might just as well make him more demonic and just go harder but lower into the contest.

Having watched Viney play a few games and having read his tweet this evening, i'd be putting my hard earned on the latter. I don't think he'll change his approach one iota and this result will probably make him more determined than ever to hit in hard.

Well, I disagree.

He'll be no value to anyone sitting in the stands.

It's Jumbo, btw DH, oops, sorry, RN.

Give it a rest.

You are just looking for gawkers and knashed teeth.

Do something better with your time.

Oh, and 'he will learn?'

Learn what exactly?

If you said to him or Roos that 'he will learn' they would look at you like you just ate a live cockatoo.

I asked him this before but he doesn't seem to want to engage in serious debate on this, just talk about it.

This has probably been brought up, but I wonder what the charge would be if it was a Hodge or a Sellwood instead of a Viney?

We've already seen it with Hodge last season, no case to answer.

platinum !!!

basketball is what it should be called.

No it shouldn't and don't start down this track please.

Short for purple headed warrior. Spud frawley I think started it on triple M

The triple m team gave him the nickname because they reckon he put a purple rinse through his hair which he denies.

also good to see support from the collingwood fans. Collingwood Fans@Magpie_Fans 2h

What a farce the AFL tribunal can be. There was nothing in Viney's situation that would warrant a two week suspension

Perhaps the AFL will ban handling of the ball which will eliminate the need to tackle and as long as the players wear shin guards they may be able to stop all injuries except SOFT tissue ones.

For what it's worth Barrett tweeted 20 minutes ago that we are "looking to appeal".

Well that's what Mahoney said a few hours ago. "looking to appeal", it means he right if we do and if we don't. Typical of the clown.

I thought that too - but he was pretty accurate with Jesse Hogan scoops on 2 seperate occassions this season, makes me think he has a source within the club and that maybe the appeal is ready to be lodged. Can only hope!

It's worth nothing.

vineys two weeks is rubbish, and the body slam on georgiou was rubbish as well, should've been given a week for it.

On the positive side of all this, Pig dog should get a run. He's hard at the ball and plays a role similar to viney.

Im looking forward to seeing him.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
