No to be disrespectful to Georgiou but I think that is because most of the time he looks for the easy kick (sideways or backwards). Maybe he is trying to play it safe and keep his spot in the team.

Is that what you'd do, in his position?

...and maybe he's playing within his limitations. His kicking style is not good but the end result is effective.

Love Jamie Elliott. How do Collingwood keep finding these gems without early draft picks??? Hate, hate, HATE THEM!

And Grundy. That final goal was sensational. Grrrr.

Collingwood have kicked 12.20

Carton have been let off the hook and are getting cheap late goals to flatter them

Melbourne will comfortably leapfrog the Blues by seasons end if we havent already

Agreed. All this rubbish from the commentators about Mick going into the rooms to spray them for finally showing up in the 4th quarter? Rubbish. Collingwood took their foot off the pedal.

Those calling for Georgiou's head, here is his own assessment of his time on his opponents. Yes he is a liability at times with his kicking, but for a 6 gamer, he doesn't lose many contests:

R1 - Rhys Stanley (St Kilda)

“I reckon he kicked one. It was over the back though, I wasn’t really on him.”

R2 - Dean Cox/Nic Naitanui (West Coast)

“I was on Cox and Naitanui most of the game. Naitanui kicked one on me in the first quarter. Naitanui is ridiculously strong. He got me in a wrestling contest.”

R3 - Jon Patton (GWS)

“I was on Patton. His leading patterns were really good and he was throwing me around like a little kid. He kicked two that day.”

R4 - Patrick Cripps/Andrejs Everitt (Carlton)

“I was on the young fella Cripps mainly and also Everitt. Neither of those kicked goals on me. I was probably lucky that game.”

R5 - Sam Day (Gold Coast)

“I was on Day for most of the game. He kicked 1.2.”

R6 - Lewis Roberts-Thomson (Sydney)

“I was on Lewis Roberts-Thomson and he didn’t kick one on me.”

The other interesting part of that interview was his statement that Roos and Nathan Basset are similar in their coaching styles. Hope he is on the radar as heir apparent.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
