frawley shouldn't make public statements that give the impression he is holding a gun to roos head, afterall roos was understanding with frawley's stance, empathetic too and then frawley turns around and does this, poor form

It was a joke, PJ was standing about 3 metres away during the presser, see my earlier post, didn't have a problem, seemed to like Chip's answers

That is all!

He shouldn't make statements expressing that he likes his coach and wants to continue playing under him? Okay then.

Once-bitten twice shy, eh WYL?

I think I agree with him Chook.

The glimmer of hope is he has not yet said " I want to be a demon for life."

As soon as those words are uttered you can put the house on him leaving.

yeah chook, good name, the point I was making was from the headlines that he wanted roos to increase his tenure and he would too, what I didn't do was watch the footage, I hope you understand

This whole seven coaches in seven years thing really annoys me.

'Technically' true, but does it really represent the true state of affairs? No, it's just an easy way for the media to over-dramatise the situation.

Included in the seven coaches are Mark Riley, Todd Viney and Neil Craig, who were never appointed as full-time senior coaches. Riley coached less than half a year, Viney about five games and Craig half a season.

Then they include Daniher and Roos. Daniher coached Frawley for half a season in his first year and Roos is yet to coach Frawley in a home-and-away match.

So as much as the '7 in 7' years sounds nice and fluffy for the media, the reality is he has essentially played primarily under two coaches...Bailey and Neeld.

I know they are trying to paint Melbourne as a club that regularly sacks its coaches, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I am 31 and have only seen one coach sacked early in his tenure...Neeld. Compare this to many other clubs and it is quite favourable.

Initially I agreed, because (I imagine) like you I think of it as 3 "real" new coaching regimes that Frawley has been under.

Daniher barely counts because that era was over (in my view).

Known-to-be temporary caretakers don't count (in my view).

So he's "really" been there in the Bailey era, the Neeld era, and now the Roos era.

Key eras in the life of the club, and by proxy an MFC supporter.

But if we are to think of it in terms of the evolution and development of an individual player, I think that stat has actual meaning.

7 coaches in 7 years.

Daniher, Riley, Bailey, Viney, Neeld, Craig, Roos.

Definitely some were more significant than others and stayed longer.

But Frawley had a different voice selling a different message and a different gameplan, changing over each and every year on average.

Sure, some were known to be temporary, but was he any less required to listen to the words and attempt to implement the gameplan?

What would the reaction have been if he simply switched off to wait for the next coach?

How was he to know there would be a next coach?

Riley, Viney & Craig could have feasibly continued in the role.

It's painful to think about, but it does pay to bear in mind the crippling instability Frawley has faced during his career, when the one man who he should be looking to for direction has been frequently changing, and the tune changing with him.

Mind-boggling and gut-wrenching when you try to imagine yourself in Frawley's shoes, not to mention other players.

You'd hate to think how many more-than-salvageable careers were consigned to the scrapheap as a result.

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
