I can never for the life of me understand these responses.

It's as if you're saying you have no choice in reading or responding to any thread on this forum.

Knick off if there's a topic you don't like. How hard is it, really?

...

I disagree stm & DrG. While I think this is a good thread because it may say something about our club, I see nothing wrong with someone saying the thread is a waste of time etc. It is an opinion, just happens to be wrong in my view. As long as the author doesn't bang on about it repeatedly. Then it is fair to ask why he is bothering to read and post in it and tell him to go elsewhere.

It is interesting to read the opinions on how much it shows what was wrong with the club compared with what's wrong with Col.

Too early to write Sylvia off at Freo. Hopefully for him the penny will drop. Many years with little discipline at Melbourne is a habit not easily broken. With an injury free run this year he may well prove a few doubters wrong. Maybe not, but I wish him well regardless.

I think he will be shown up at freo for his lack of work rate, shouldve been a superstar for us, but couldnt even win a best and fairest at the bottom side.

So many preseason 'Land cliches in one post. Well done.

I agree.

Definitely think this will be his break out season.

The biggest revelation with Sylvia is the blokes just not much good.

Can't win a clearance

Isn't a reliable kick

Isn't a natural spread and run player

What he can be is a tough match up as he's got good burst speed, strength and over head marking. And he can tackle. He's a back up midfielder and flanker trying to find he's way in a new team playing a hard system to learn.

Let's leave the deep analysis of his Melbourne career in the past.

Sylvia leaving allowed us to get Vince. If Cross, Tyson, Michie and Riley can provide the help to Viney and Jones in the grunt work then Vince will be of much more use to us than Sylvia would've been.

Its a revelation? Really? FMD.

10 yrs and never inside the top 5 in the B&F. Plenty of apologists here for Col. Ooooh he didn't have a pre-season, oooh give him time.

He is your classic gun junior footballer that doesn't have a brain or work ethic. He's not alone, there are plenty of them.

I was banging on for a long time that he should be traded only to be shouted down in this place. A trade that allowed us to get Vince is a good result but we could have had a better result had we the balls to ditch him to GWS 3yrs ago.

There is no penny.

Gold

Yep He'll be a gun one day that boy.

Ross Lyon is doing the same as he did to wake up Michael Walters, has the media hounding him and publically making him aware a spot in Freo's best 22 is earned and not a given.

Sylvia will be a good addition to the Freo side and by midway through the season I expect him to be firing

Rivers was terrific last night. A sad loss.

You're joking, aren't you?

A solid showing in a NAB Challenge match, in what will be his last season.

He's a role player, and we have better players for the spot he'd fill at MFC.

Also a non-existent leader.

No loss whatsoever.

Couldn't agree more FD.

Col left after Roos had arrived. He was in PR's plans.

He walks after the club had made changes.

He will regret it, but i think the club is better off. Coll has talent but not that burning desire to succeed.

WAFL could beckon.

You've got no idea.

Roos didn't want or need Sylvia, and knew he was going a long time before.

Roos just needed to keep up appearances to ensure we didn't get a booby prize like when Rivers & Moloney left and clearly weren't wanted, despite them having some value.

Althought the compensation for those 2 was pretty much correct weight.

Physically he's almost perfect, he just doesn't have it between the ears.

Physically almost perfect except from memory has only been able to complete one full pre season which coincided with his best season for the Club.

He's just had another injury interrupted preseason on a modified program which means he will struggle for fitness yet again for a season. Roosy said a couple of years ago that if a player misses the main fitness work before Christmas they are always behind for the rest of the next season. Having said that I expect him to be useful at Freo played on HFF. He doesn't have the brain or stamina to be able to play in the midfield. Mind you nowadays HFF's have to be able to run deep into defence and run hard on transition. I have doubts he will have the tank even for that.

Col was definitely part of what was wrong with the club, and his departure was a necessary step towards improvement.

Jared Rivers, was and still is a massive loss to the MFC, if you seriously think that a bloke can walk into Geelongs back line is not required at the MFC, you're loco. I would have Rivers over, Struass, Terlich, Dunn, Pedo etc any day of the week. He would still be our thrid best back man behind Chip and Garlo

Short term, perhaps. Beyond this year, Rivers would have been close to last on that list.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
