Training - Monday 16th December, 2013

Whispering Jack explains here: Clearly I agree with you but many don't.

Interesting Jack quotes Denham in support of his position having once said

Anyway I suppose it's just what suits you on the day. And what would opposition footy departments know anyway. I mean look what we've achieved.... oh, wait

The old Baghdad Bob hasn't changed since the days when he was in the Ministry of Misinformation. Note when I quoted Denham, I used the word "even" meaning that even someone like Denham concedes that which Bob and Comical Ali will not because it suits their particular agenda.

To actually respond to a point of debate is an art lost in those with agendas. Three anonymous football departments from opposing sides in a competition of 18 clubs would know wouldn't they? No doubt most of them would be happy to have Dave Misson on board, I would suggest.

Anyhow, enough of that, this thread is about Monday's training. If you want to start another anti Neeld thread please feel free to do so but kindly don't derail another thread with your obsession about Neeld.

But the inference here is that Bailey had control of his own destiny. I believe the reason for the schism in the Football Department at the time stems from Baileys frustration at decisions by Chris C and CS. They sent Junior on his way and Bruce, so our first tier leaders went out the door. Green and co were not the leaders we needed for 2011.

. I remember Robbo on SEN saying he was at a function with CS and Don Mclardy a few years ago and debating with Schwab about the recruits MFC should be chasing and he was adamant that CS was obsessed with nimble, fast running outside receivers as the future of footy. This doesn't surprise me at all and explains much of our first round recruiting. We blame Bailey for much of our failings but I doubt he had full control and we know he had SFA resources. In 2010 we were on track playing competitive football. A year later we were in a death spiral with a dysfunctional FD.

Doesn't correlate with my memory. Bailey was definitely adamant that Junior's days were over and I know that Bruce because he wanted two years and Bailey wasn't prepared to agree. As to your proposition that CS had control over recruiting, that's preposterous. Prendergast was the man in control of that fiasco.

Good to c the Aussies win the ashes back. Four yrs is a long time and its always good to beat the good old English.

Must admit didn't think we would win.

It's a nice way to pass the long preseason.

That seems to be what the club thinks too, KDA.

I'm looking forward to seeing Vince, Cross, Michie and Tyson in action next season. And Evans, whom I've always rated.

That said, I'm interested to know how Aidan Riley's been training. Any reports?

(And, as always, thanks for the reports everyone - much appreciated.)

agreed! evans is a good player,.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

Many warned that this was a danger game and the Demons were totally outclassed all game by a young Eagles team at Optus Stadium in Perth as they were defeated by 35 points.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
